I'm doing something similar, and am using paper flowers, small candles and mint julep cups to add visual interest.
Mrs. Lovebug did some of the cutest vintage centerpieces where she made her own book covers and kind of stacked them on top of one another then put vintage jars/buckets/teapots on top of them.
Mrs. Avocado also had book centerpieces with really cute vases on top of them. Both are really cute but different and could provide maybe some nice visual inspiration.
I saw this book centerpiece in pictures of my venue. The bride was a reader like youself, and selected books with spines in her wedding colors. You can read about the wedding here: http://emlifephoto.com/Blog/?p=568.
This is one of my favorites from Once Wed, especially the curled pages as vases.

I love this idea. I think my centerpieces are going to be huge because I want to have everything!!
We met while working at a bookstore, I was an english major and he's a philosophy/ theology student, so naturally books are a HUGE part of our lives... I've come up with a few ideas so far, but I'm still trying to figure out what to do with them!
I forget where I first saw this idea, but I loved it! Instead of using fancy paper for your table number cards, you could print large numbers on book pages (or faded copies of book pages).
Oh, I am SO tempted by these! We did bookmarks for our save the dates, these would be a great counterpoint!
Ooh, I've considered this depending on our theme. I think two old school books with a small vase of flowers on top would be so cute! Maybe some candles around, too. I like the idea of mint julep cups.
This is what my husband and I did for our wedding! We used vintage books with cute titles collected over the course of a year and then stacked them up on each table. We also named all our tables after famous love stories and our escort cards were mini books with a quote from that novel inside. Let me know if you'd like more pictures!
That is a cute idea. However, I wouldn't use any books that are part of your personal collection unless you don't mind them mysteriously walking off. Get copies from local used bookstores, etc.
@ Wedding Poodle: I really like your setups! Did you go for a color when choosing the books or did you look for size?
@ jordynrose: I like that example! I've never seen flowers as book ends. Cute idea! I think that bride lucked out though, a lot of hardcover books come in dark blue.
Here are some of my book inspiration pieces:
We had two qualifications for our books: 1. vintage and reasonable priced (hello, flea markets!) and 2. Cute wedding/love/happiness related titles. We had everything from "Love Sonnets" to "A Wedding in the Family" to "Life of the Party" to "Blondie's Boyfriend". Lots of unknown books, just with cute titles!
I am going for that as well and I'd love to see more pics/ inspirations as well. Also, our tables are large squares (seating 8-10 people each) and I was wondering if anyone had any ideas on how exactly to use the books so that they don't look too small for the tables.
I forgot I had these saved on my hard drive. I don't remember where they're from though...

All the online book centerpieces look amazing. My attempts haven't been so good, but they're coming along. I'm actually taking some pretty wrapping paper in blues, black and whites, and silver to wrap most of the books in. We don't have a lot of vintage books and did buy some at the library book sale, and have candles and blue, glass mugs, but they just weren't looking right. But the wrapping paper seems to be pulling it together.

Hey Guys!
I am a huge fan or reading, and I really wanted to incorporate that into our wedding! I also am going with a vintage, Pride & Prejudice feel, and I can't think of anything besides stacking them on the table with a bow around them!
Any ideas?
