I’m from Toronto and I’ve heard that churches require 1 yr notice for marriages. My So plans to propose soon and we’d like to get married sept 2013. I’m worried we wont be able to pull this off because its less than a year. What do you girls think? Does anyone know how strict they are with this rule?

It depends upon which denomination. Catholic churches usually require 6 months in advance.

Every church is different so there is no one answer. Have you tried asking your church their about policy/practice ?

Like PPs said, it can depend on 1- church/theology rules and 2- simple scheduling factors of how far out other couples have called. We bookd our church over 18 months ahead of time, because all of the dates within one year were booked. Our premarital counseling requirement only took 3 meetings/2 months, so it was purely a scheduling issue. I’d start calling around to get an idea.

- Wedding: September 2014 - Lodge
Our venue books out 2 years in advance. The only way we could get a sooner date is if someone cancelled theirs. You may need to change your date or look for a new venue. Hopefully you can get the date you want with no issues though but be prepared to compromise on either the date or place.
