This is a tough situation.
We were given a timeshare week as a wedding gift and we used it to book a place in Belize for our honeymoon. We did a ton of research on the places available and choose one that we loved. A few months later, we were contacted by the timeshare company (Interval International) to say that the place we choose was closing for renovations and that we were "upgraded" to a different place. The new place was a bit nicer but was NOT ocean front, and did not have easy access to the ocean. I was so PISSED!! We ended up getting an ocean front place that isn't quite as nice as the place we choose.
I don't really understand why the timshare company can't confirm a spot for you, are they always this flaky? If I were you, I'd get on the phone to them and ask when they will have an answer. Either there are spots available or not, thats it.
Sorry, some of my misplace timeshare anger may have come out in this :)
Wow, good to know. I'm also working with Interval. I have had nothing but positive experiences with them in the past (I've been on 4 trips through them so far). Of their choices in Belize, I also only wanted to be ocean front (probably why they haven't confirmed our request yet). I have been told by them in the past that Hawaii books over 12 months out, so we didn't even consider it as an option. I'm afraid that I'll be disappointed to not be in Waikiki.
I had a great time in Belize - cave tubing was fabulous, and if you have some extra time they have an amazing zoo.
OMG, Belize sounds great but KO OLINA is totally fantastic; I have been to Hawaii over 10+ times and I am SUPER PARTIAL to Hawaii, but good luck - just think of it as a WIN-WIN...you really cannot lose.
P.S. Real Hawaii can be Belize-ish...you mention being disappointed by not being at Waikiki, but Waikiki is sooo touristy.
@ krissycake - Thank you! I was afraid of losing Ko Olina, so I booked it and I have 24 hours to convince my fiance that it is a good idea. It sounds like Belize is out of reach at this point. But who could be disappointed in Hawaii?!

Hive, I need your help!
Mr. D and I have had our hearts set on Belize since watching one of those "best beaches" shows on the Travel Channel. For 6 months, we have been loving the idea of their gorgeous beaches, amazing snorkeling and fun activities (climbing ruins and ziplining through rainforest).
My parents have been very generous and have given us the use of their timeshare for our honeymoon. We put in the request in April for our mid-to-late October trip, but they have not been able to confirm a space in Belize for us yet. They did call to say that they have a spot (Ko Olina) on Oahu that we might like. I have been to Oahu before, and it was great. This particular hotel has great reviews and beautiful pictures posted. The flights would be about half the price of the flights to Belize, so that is a bonus.
We want to start our family pretty soon after we get married. I'm worried that if we don't go to Belize now, we won't go until for years (if ever). I'm also worried that if I wait too long, we might not get our request for Belize and we'll miss out on our opportunity to book Hawaii. We have 3.5 months before our honeymoon, but I know it will be here before we know it!
What would you do?
