We’re having all the guests bring a book to start the babys collection but I’m stumped as to what to get. Since I’m co-hosting, I figure I’ll grab a few books so I need some suggestions. My FSIL already had her first shower and the hosts of that did the same thing so she’s already gotten a number of books. For the most part they look to be the most common ones out there so I guess I’d like some suggestions for books that not everyone would pick up. The only one that I know I’m getting is Chicka Chicka Boom Boom but I’m looking for 2-3 more suggestions.
Moms and moms to be, what are your favorite books for your little ones?

My favorite (and the one I give at all baby showers) is “The Poky Little Puppy” (one of The Golden Books). I loved it when I was little and everyone I’ve given it to has said it was one of their favorites too.
I may also add the “Go the F*** to Sleep” book to my gift list as well (it looks amazing for parents!).

Aww, I had “The Pokey Little Puppy,” too. As far as newer books go, I like “The Belly Button Book.”

The Very Hungry Caterpillar (totally recommend based on bias-my daughter loved it from month 1. Simple pictures on White Background and good patterning for reading.)
Dear Zoo (simple, kids like to flip..i think this will be a favorite by 1 year old)
This Little Chick (good rhythm and animal noises)
On the Night You Were Born (very soothing, loving)
Hooray for Fish (I just like it b/c it has fish and the language is playful. Emi doesn’t care for it. Maybe it’s for mature audiences only. )

Last baby shower I went to I gave “The book of Hugs” Thankfully it was updated… the one I have invokes images of 70’s porn.

All of my nieces and nephews have LOVED “Brown Bear Brown Bear What do you see?” They can memorize the book easily since the picture shows what brown bear “sees” next.
Another great book… “Mama Mama Misses Llama.” It is for 2-3 year olds, but it is always nice to get books that they will like in the future.
