I am SOOO excited: I just booked a 4 night cruise for Mr. H and I, and I am about to pop with excitement! He has no idea yet–I’m telling him next month on his birthday. But we’ll be sailing to Mexico, and on our shore excursion we’ll be at La Casa en la Playa, which is on a private beach and only takes a very limited number of guests (as opposed to other excursions who take tons and tons); premium open bar all day, private chef, and all the water toys, hammocks, beach beds, and relaxation we can handle. I can’t wait to tell him, but for another month I have to keep my excitement on the down-low.
So that’s why I’m here! Bees, I want to hear all about your cruise experiences, your tips, and your excursions! We are both first time cruisers, so no idea what to expect. Tell me tell me!! 🙂

MrsHalpert: OMG HOW EXCITING!!!
I have been on two cruises to mexico and absolutely loved every minute of it! Which cruise line are you sailing with? I never did any excursions off-shore. I mostly walked around the town, did a little shopping and laid out on the beach. We did a couple tours in Puerta Vallarta and that was fun too!.
Be sure to take advantage of all the fun activities and shows on-board! and let me know if you have any questions 🙂

leisha606: I’m so glad to hear that you loved it! We’re cruising with Carnival (Elation)! I would love to have been able to just explore the town of Cozumel, and especially the Mayan ruins…but in all the pictures it seems SO crowded with tourists. If we were going for a few days just to Mexico, I would absolutely sight see all day every day. Since we’ll only be there for a few hours though, I wanted to be as tourist/crowd free as possible (and I know Mr. H would prefer that too).
What cruise line did you use? I’m really excited about everything being essentially all inclusive; we’re luckily not big drinkers, so a bottle of wine or champagne onboard in addition to the open bar in Mexico should cover us. I’m still trying to get used to the fact that we’ll just go to dinner and never get a check, haha

MrsHalpert: I have cruised with Carnival once before and have to say they were my fav! I LOVED their onboard singers and dancers. They seemed more guest oriented and did a lot of fun activities (which you can participate or not participate as much as you like). I found the contests on the pool deck hillarious and i was able to bond with over guests 70s dancing classes and bingo :p
I wasn’t a huge alcohol drinker either so that kept my bill quite low. They have a daily drink that is usually discounted so make sure to look out for those! The food is wonderful and its free so venture out a little. When my mom tried frog legs and was not a huge fan they were happy to bring her another plate, free of charge of course. Room service was apart of my late night routine after hitting the dance club. There is all sorts of different live music over the ship, so I am sure you will find something you like.
Can i say how jealous I am right now!! haha
