I live in this area and trust me please don't do this my friend has gone through 3 florists in this area because of bad judgement and she lives here and has met these people face to face. If you need a reference I have a wonderful florist very creative and couture styling I would guess average pricing. The company is called Bay Bouquet they are in Tampa and they are doing my wedding in St. Pete. Their Phone # is 813-258-2686 baybouquet.com
Hope this helps :)
@JustMarried51912: Thanks for the insight. This definetely helps! Are there any other florists or vendors that you would recommend also? I did get in touch with Bay Bouquet :)
I have absolutely no knowledge of the area seeing as I'm in Australia, but I'd hate to book a florist who did a bad job. I would at least ask for some examples of their work and look online to try and find some reviews.
That said, I'm a sucker for online reviews. I won't even book a restaurant without checking on Urban Spoon first!
I booked my florist from their website, based on vendor suggestions from my venue. Does your venue have any suggestions? Can you find any reviews of them online? I'm not nervous, but the hotel has a great reputation and I'm SURE they wouldn't lead me astray. Plus their reviews were great online. I was finally able to meet wtih them and everything was as expected when I met in person.
@LadyEvar: A florist that flakes at the last moment or doesn't share my vision is my biggest fear.I would have to lock my florist before I get to visit, so if things do not add up once I meet with them, its too late to change it
@MrsProf: My venue only had one suggestion, but their suggestion isn't listed on Weddingwire or have very many reviews.
Well, I am in the Tampa as well! I am not sure about specific florists in the area but I do know my cousin works on weddings as a planner on the side (although I'm sure you might already have a planner) and she might be able to help you. Would you like her information?
Here's a Couple more:
Delma's Flower Booth 727-327-3232 I've seen her work before does a good job.
Seminole Florist: 727-392-1000 Does good work.
Geoffrey's Floral Design & Events: 813-868-3737 A friend bride is using them for her wedding and she loves him.
Good luck on the search
I would base the decision on more than just phone quotes. I wold also check out their web page, if they have one to see examples of thier work. Check reviews on weddingwire.com, weddinbee.com and yelp.
I think seeing exapmles of work is very important. My florist never sent me sample pictures of our church decorations and I was disappointed at the result on the big day.
I am having a destination wedding in Vermont and facing similar issues. Luckily- the Burlington area isn't all that big. The florsist was recommended through the venue, she has a wonderful site with many testimonials and examples of her work and many pins on pinterest, and I was also able to speak with other brides she has worked with. For me- I feel like you can really make an informed decision without meeting someone if you put in the extra time. She has been amazing to work with so far!
I hope this helps.
thanks bees for all your suggestions. I will look into the vendors mentioned and try to get some more reviews before Feburary :)
@JustMarried51912: Thanks for all the detailed suggestions. I ended up going with Events in Bloom as they worked closely with my other vendors and came of as professional and reasonably priced. Unfortunately I didnt have time to go to Delma's before making my decision but they were very nice as well. I had some interesting floral experiences so I'm glad I waited to visit florists in person.
Thanks bees for your help :)

Hi Bees,
I am a destination bride trying to find a florist in the Tampa/St. Petersberg area. I received quotes from several florists over the phone based on phone consultations of what I want for my wedding. However, some of my family members think this is not the greatest idea. Is it safe to book a florist over the phone and trust their judgement for your wedding. They quoted everything based on the type of flowers I want, arrangements, and centerpieces. I will be able to meet with whichever florist I choose in February. Thanks guys!
