I don't have any books, but I know my FI and I have just come to terms with who does what in terms of finance. My FI pays the bills and I do all the "budgeting" (though we use the word loosely to define how much we're saving and a plan to pay off student loans).
We are having a shared checking, shared savings, and separate checking and savings. One of the bees has the same set up. We will deposit paychecks into the shared savings. From there, transfers are made into shared checking for rent, food, etc, and individual checking for spending money.
I love Suze Orman's Young, Fabulous and Broke. It's not specifically for couples but it does go through all the basics.
My husband and I have joint everything. I am on the one that does the daily money managing and we talk about our finances every so often (no set schedule though).
I like "Nice girls don't get rich" which isn't for couples but it also goves through the basics.
I just googled the book I read about handling finances, and found out they have a website :P you can check it out here: http://www.wealthybarber.com/ It's a little bit older, and not specifically for couples, but it has a great approach in that it uses "common sense" planning and is written in a story format, so it's easy to read. Our copy has been passed around our family - as in, "this is good. You need to read this."
Thank you very much to all of you, ladies! I put these books on hold at my iibrary and am going to check them out to see which my fiance and I would like to read.
@MissCremeBrulee--I think that sounds like a really smart system. I enjoy reading the Bee posts about financing--like the one recently about how they plan to split up accounts. I know for sure that my FI and I want some separate money to spend as we see fit.

My fiance and I come from different financial backgrounds and have been recently realizing how different our approaches to finances are. In the past I'd thought we both have a lot in common--we try not to spend more than we have to, and don't buy big ticket status items. So naive. I spend money based on a budget, he spends less but has no plan. I pay bills on time, he ... tries.
My question is this: has anyone read any financial books that help newlyweds plan their financial future? I'd LOVE some recommendations.
