Lately I've become obsessed with beautiful and slightly nontraditional calligraphy by Primele and Love, Jenna and calligraphy-style letterpress invites from Bella Figura. I fancy myself a pretty crafty girl and would love to tackle learning calligraphy myself. I'm not yet engaged but I am a little bored and I thought this might be a good project to get started on as I can imagine it will take lots of practice. Additionally, my great grandfather was a professional sign painter and calligrapher so I would really like to learn the skill as a tribute to him.
Has anyone learned calligraphy before?
What books or resources did you use? I've seen a bunch of online guides but I'd like to purchase a book to have something on paper in front of me - recommendations?
I know that a legit pen + ink is best for projects, but is a marker-style pen better for beginners who are just starting out?
What are your favorite pens, inks, and papers for calligraphy?
Had enough questions? Check these babies out!
