Following thread – FI and I are torn between the same two places! (I know Jetsetter ocassionally does some pretty incredible sales on nice Maldives hotels, if you haven’t checked them out yet. They have one on sale now that’s all inclusive, and expires mid-December, depending on when after the wedding you go: http://www.jetsetter.com/hotels/male/maldives/2108/vivanta-by-taj-coral-reef?nm=serplist&cl=1&checkin=&checkout=&numAdults=2&numRooms=1&ca=view-more)

either would be absolutely amazing!

We are in the UK and have decided on the Maldives as they are easier to get to from here and we can combine them with somewhere else (currently thinking either Sri Lanka or Kerala in Southern India). Bora bora would be an awesome choice too though

Agree! Both places are amazing. <br />But I also want to advise you another wonderful place to relax – Bali

grols:  Have you been to all three? Any other feedback on the differences (or awesome hotel recommendations?)

Just a reminder the Maldives is an Islamic country so things like massages will be out of question. Also, dress is more conservative than it would be in Bora Bora. Just some food for thought, I went a few years ago to the Maldives it’s beautiful but these factors could definitely effect a honeymoon, for me at least.

bijoucanary:  Fiance and I tossed up the two ideas also.  We live in OK and ultimately decided on Maldives with a layover in Istanbul Turkey.  Flights are long yes, but we felt the Maldives was better. Lbward6 mentioned it being an islamic country and not having massages.  Maybve a few years ago when she went, however that isn’t the case now.  We will be enjoying massages on our trip at the resort.

We’re going in January!  🙂

Lbward6:  not trying to be narky at all here, but that is not true. At the resorts, anything goes. I think that would just be on the mainland, which you would only be on when transferring to the resort by boat or sea plane.

Lbward6:  Yeah, not sure when or where you went but that’s definitely not the case where we are going! I have actually just been browsing through all the massages and other treatments on offer at our resort spa…cant wait for a bit of pampering! 🙂

And all the pictures show guests in normal holiday clothes i.e. bikini’s, shorts, vests etc…it doesn’t look particularly conservative to me!
