I gained 10ls when stopping Yaz. Not sure if I would have stopped gaining or kept on because I got pregnant on second cycle off.

@DeeVine1217:  I wouldn’t let a couple of media articles dictate your choices. I would speak to my health care professional to see if the BC pill I’m on is the best choice for me even though it wasn’t for a few others. There are lots of variables at play and I think an informed decision is always best. I am on a “mini pill” will less hormones and I’ve never had any problems with it in years. If I did, then I would consider changing not if other people did.

As for weight gain, I actually lost weight when I went off the pill for awhile so I can’t be much help there. I would have been very wary about making drastic hormone changes so close to a wedding though!

@DeeVine1217:  Have you heard of the placebo effect? (When you think a pill will help treat a medical condition so though it contains no active ingredients, it will work anyways) It’s the exact opposite of the nocebo effect (if you think something is causing the problem, it will continue to do so just because you attribute it)

What I’m saying is, maybe you noticed a little weight gain or bloating and attributed it to the lack of BC so now it’s continuing because your brain is sending the neurons to your body telling it that it’s happening.

Maybe anaylze everything else.. Think deep.. did your diet change? Are you more stressed out than usual? Exercising less?

@DeeVine1217:  Oh man 🙁 Hopefully you get it all sorted out! Definitely talk to your doc.

As a side note, my belly fluctuates by a good 3in depending on one factor (and this may be TMI) but I often mis-attribute “bloat” to actually being a lot of constipation and gas. Soooo what I’m saying is, have you pooped recently? Lol!

I totally support you getting off of Yaz in particular! The obgyn i worked for stopped perscribing it due to severe kidney issues. Just FYI if you do want a BC method where you can skip period you can you any monophasic pill, or nuvaring. Your body doesn’t need time to regulate with combined methods. As soon as you stop those methods you are “at risk” for pregnancy. Coming off a bc method can ause total hormone fluctuations though so I am glad that the PMS blost is going away for you!

I wonder if it’s water weight.  I seem to remember my OB telling me when she put me on Yaz years ago that it contains a diuretic.  Since you’re not taking it any more, you could be retaining water.

I was going to stop as wellat the end of this pack (2 months before) but decided against it or this vey reason… My dress barely fits now. I notified my doctor I wanted off in a few months. He prescribed me a different pill to carry me over those 2 months.

Since ou mentioned bloat, m wondering if it is mainly water weight. Drink tons of water and add a potassium supplement to your routine.
