So I started researching haircuts planning a day at the hair salon. I can’t go today because my husband is at work and for medical reasons I don’t have a license. So I planned to get it cut tomorrow. Than I started thinking… Well wouldn’t it be a nice surprise if he just walked in and my hair was cut without warning or anything (I like to surprise him like that, you shoulda seen his face when I went blonde!)
So I did it, I went on youtube trying to find different hairstyles I could do at home. Keep in mind I’ve only ever cut my bangs. I’ve cut my daughters bangs and trimmed hers and my moms hair but that’s it. But hey, I’m bored and if it looks bad I’ll go to the salon tomorrow to have it fixed, it’s only hair afterall!
So it’s that just below shoulder length hair (excuse my pimple oily no makeup face, it’s been a lazy day)
I cut a good couple inches off the back and trimmed up the front. I basically did a long layered bob.
Now it is
I’m about to shower and straighten it and see how it looks. If it came out good I’ll post the youtube link for anyone daring enough to try this at home 🙂 Wish me luck.

And all straightened (I had to keep trimming to get it as short as I wanted but it is finally like I want it, I might try to add some more defined layers, but for now my DH will be home soon and I gotta start cooking dinner 🙂
Oh and the link… Go http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JOAfAMPd2OE for the super easy tutorial 🙂

I expected to see some horribly botched pics but you did an awesome job! I tried cutting my hair once in college & it turned out horribly. I just wanted a trim, but I couldn’t get it even until about 5 tries and about a foot of hair later. So glad it worked out for ya!

@kris325: it’s ok. a bit uneven but passable for sure. i cut my hair all of the time. i have a pixie cut so it doesn’t have to be perfect. croppy and choppy is good.

It’s okay, but I can tell it’s uneven. Not horrible, though. It would be easy to clean up at a salon.

You did a pretty good job because getting it even can be a little tricky.
A few years back my then 6 year old son gave himself a lovely haircut just made me think of it and I’ve just had a good chuckle thinking about it.

Thanks ladies, I’ve evened it out a bit since taking the pic, I have a feeling I’ll be doing touch ups quite a bit for the next few days, I’ll just carry my hair scissors with me everywhere 🙂

@kris325: nice cut (= i cut my own hair too and back when I was a teen it was the worst. It is a little bit uneven but easily fixed. Great job!
