Here are some tips we have used and we are getting married in downtown Boston:

I bought my dress at Vows..

We are getting married on a Sunday in the Summer so it cut 15% off of our venue.  In terms of the venue as well, the package she quoted us had “upgraded linens” in it.  We cut that out.  The table will be covered and pretty enough we dont need crazy color table clothes.  The package was great for the venue because it included food, alcohol, cake, taxes and gratituties.. so the venue is pretty much cut and dry we know what we are paying

I signed up for theknot.com and they run great promotions for photographers. We ended up getting another 5% off of our photographer because we paid in full up front after signing the contract, plus we got an extra photographer included in the price for free.

My challenge now is a florist.. I’ll get a good deal though! 🙂

@LibrarianBride:  Dante is awesome! I work in Cambridge so I’m very familiar! If you find any good tips on florists let me know!

Just realized vows = brick and mortar version of bridepower. I`m definitely looking forward to checking it out. I’ve heard that Camilla’s in Arlington is also great for brides on a budget.

Just got an e-mail that BHLDN opened up a store in Chestnut Hill! Some of their dresses are pretty pricey but others look to be under $1000. Don’t know anything about their quality though…

Update — I LOVE the BHLDN/Anthropologie store in Chestnut Hill. The girl who helped me, Kaylyn, was fantastic. They do have a wide range of prices, plus some very nice white bridesmaids dresses if you don’t want to deal with the hassle of having a train. I was lucky enough to get an appointment the second day they were open. In terms of dresses on a budget, the Jcrew line has some nice ones under $1000 in nice fabrics (and often run 25% off sales), and you can make an appointment at Jcrew Copley to try them on in store instead of having to order them and then return.

In the city ended up being too out of budget for us so we headed to the cape and we love our venue and it was so reasonably priced!! We are definatly on a budget!

How is everyone doinf on florist? Im stuck Im so torn I would love to hire someone for the right price but ordering in bulk and DIY might be what we have to go with.

ah412:  AH I had no idea there was a BHLDN store in Chestnut Hill – thank you so much for posting here!

I, unfortunately, do not have any budget tips (Boston, why are you so damn expensive?), although I do think my venue (BC Club) is a great value for its location (and compared to other Boston venues).

annb9:  You’re welcome. It just opened last Thursday! Kaylyn is great, if you get a chance to work with her :).

LibrarianBride:  Oooh, Dante is beautiful! One of my favorite places in Boston. What a great venue!
