We have tons of ideas on where to shoot outdoors BUT i need to be prepared as to where to shoot in the event of bad weather. We will be staying in the financial district and have a photog for 2 hours! Where do you gals suggest shooting?
We’d also like a few shots in a bar/pub having a drink.

I would highly reccomend the Boston Public Library! They have many, nooks and crany’s for beautiful pictures along with the gorgeous staircase and reading room. Also, if it’s bad weather but you have an umbrella, stepping into their courtyard for some images good be very cute as well!! Keep in mind that while a lot of photographers feel comfortable shooting in the BPL and as long as your quiet and respectful of others you will probably be fine, there have been a few photographers who have been asked to leave in the middle of a shoot. If you do decide to use the Library just have a back up plan, it’s well worth it, the library is gorgeous!!

I am getting married next week and am also looking for in-door places to take wedding pictures. The first place that came to mind was the Boston Public Library. But there’s an issue with them where “professional photos” are not allowed. I had a really unpleasant experience with them. Appearantly it is ok to go as a regular patron and take pictures (no flash allowed), but NOT OKAY to take commercial (professional) photos. It doesn’t make any sense to me since it’s a public building, but that’s what they’re saying. I wrote to the events coordinator and even complained to the library. You might be able to get away if you have a small group, show up, and if anyone asks about your photographer.. he’s not a professional! lol

I was also going to suggest the Boston Public Library. Also, the ICA isn’t too far – you are allowed to take photos in their lobby (amazing windows/patterns!) and on the stairway behind the museum overlooking the water/Boston skyline

The ICA is a great place to shoot and it’s not far from the financial district at all. You can also shoot inside quincy markey (fanieul hall) though I wouldn’t go anytime after lunchtime. If you stick around Fanieul I would get your “pub shots” in the green dragon or union oyster house. They have been around forever and have a great feel to them. You can also shoot inside the old south meeting house I believe which is right around the corner. Hope this helped! Good luck- hope you don’t need to shoot indoors 🙂

Not sure if they have a problem with shooting photos inside but many of the hotels have nice areas in the lobby and the retaurants/bars. The Langham Hotel has some really great spots as well as the Omni Parker.
