I did mine 2 1/2 months before the wedding, got the photos back 2-3 weeks later, made the photo album right after that and just received the album last week. Find out how long it takes the photographer to get pictures back to you and make sure you have enough time to make/receive the album. If you are getting in shape for the wedding then make it a little closer to the date so you feel your best in your photos. :)
I'm getting mine done in September and I'm getting married in May, so 8 months before my date. I found a boudoir photographer who is doing a 'marathon' session where she booked a hotel room for 2 days and gives everyone an hour time slot. For $200 I'm getting pro make up, apps and wine, the executive suite of a hotel downtown, as many outfit changes as I can fit in, and $25 worth of print credits.
If I had the choice, I'd wait longer. I'm trying to tone up a little and would like to have the time to work on it, but this is the only time she does this, so whatever's clever.
@KristenGotMarried:I'd love to find someone doing a marathon. You're not located anywhere near Ohio, are you?
I got mine done at the end of July and my wedding is at the end of September. I found a photographer with a studio. The studio has 6 to 8 different "scenes" all set up inside with different backgrounds and props. It was gorgeous. With hair, makeup, the shoot itself, editing, and a book of photos, the whole thing cost me $425 with tax and tip.
@coffeegal85: Darling I'm in the HEART of Ohio ;) I live in Cbus. I'll email and see if the photog is filled up or not, PM me if you'd like!

How far out should I plan on getting some boudoir photos done? 8 months, 6 months, 3 months out?? My wedding is still a year away.
Also, what should I expect to pay for them? I know it differs per area, but I would like to get a general idea. I've seen sessions to be around $250, but usually the sessions don't include any pictures. Should I except to pay upwards of $500 total, when all is said and done? Is that worth it?
Have most people taken their pictures at a hotel? Has anyone done it at their own home, in their bedroom?
