it depends on how comfortable you are with your body. my photog who did my boudoir was a woman and a friend, so that helped a lot. i probably wouldn’t agree to one if i didn’t know my photog and wasn’t as close to her. my FI loved it though. he knew it was happening and he was pleased with the results. but it’s not like we keep them lying around the house haha. it’s actually just backed up in our harddrive somewhere. i also didn’t pay for mine, but i don’t think i’d pay for something (and it will be $$) that i never really see. i just turned my expensive engagement shoot into an album and i think that was really worth it, but i won’t do that with my boudoir pics.

anyway, if you think you will use them in the future and your DH wants to see this, then by all means do it. and research and interview photographers that make  YOU comfortable first. good luck!

I have, at nearly 200 pounds, and it was really fun! I felt beautiful. I don’t feel comfortable posting pics publicly, but if you want to see any I can PM them.

I haven’t done one but I am going to. I am really modest, but want to give it as a “sexy” type wedding gift for my groom-to-be. I chose an all-women studio after calling and speaking with them. They assured me it would be very comfortable, I can be as covered as I want, and they make all bodies feel beautiful. I’m nervousnow but  judging my how they were on the phone, I will be fine once I start.

Daizy914:  I just did one this week.  It went well.  I did a lot of research on what would look best on my body.  I suggest getting lingerie that covers up your problem areas if you are self-conscious, like myself.  Also, dark colors work best if you have things you would like to hide.  I will also recommend photography that focuses on shadows and indirect lighting, rather than straigh-on/pin-up lighting if you would like to camouflage parts of your body.  For my session, I felt a lot more at ease than I thought I would.  I had an easy-going, non-judgemental female photog.  She was easy to work with.  I would recommend getting your hair and make-up professionally done.  It made me feel extra special.  Good luck!

I actually just did one for our one year anniversary present to DH. We’re going the traditional route with paper being the gift so I’m going to turn my photos into a little album for him (artisan state has the little black book albums).

I knew my photographer, she was a friend of mine, and we did the shoot at my house. I’m also not super modest, so I felt very comfortable. She helped me with posing too.

I did one as a one-year anniversary gift for my fiance. I’m pretty comfy with my body, but the shoot date definitely made me want to eat healthy and get some exercise for the few months before. I suggest getting your hair, nails and makeup done the morning of the shoot. It will make you feel like a million bucks! Other than that, just be yourself. There’s no need to try to “look” sexy. You’ll look sexy just being yourself in your outfits! A few things I did that my fiance loved:

1. Take a picture in one of his favorite dress shirts

2. Take a picture in your or his favorite team jersey

3. Don’t underestimate butt cleavage. Especially if he’s a butt guy!

4. Make a “little black book” with the photos.

Daizy914:  I too have super curly hair! That did make me hesitant about letting someone else do my hair also.  So, I totally understand.  What I had them do to mine was curl sections with a large barrel curling iron.  I still had my curl, it was not manipulated too much, but I had more vampy oomph and movement.

Cory_loves_this_girl:  that’s totally part of my reason for doing it! We’re going to TTC in a couple months and I wanted to remember my before baby body!!

Not yet but I desperately want to. It wouldn’t be for my SO though (not that I’m sure he’d mind some photos), but moreso an experience for me to learn to appreciate my body for how it looks now and what I am capable of doing with it. I’ve found a studio locally that really places emphasis on encouraging all of its customers to find beauty in their bodies and has a ton of great reviews. They do everything including hair, make-up, outfits (though of course you can bring your own), props, etc. and have different styles from classic pin-up to old style Hollywood. The only reason I haven’t taken the plunge yet is because it does cost a pretty penny and I just don’t have the means right now. But it’s certainly high on my list of things I want to do very soon!

I’ve asked DH if he would want an album of Boudoir photos. His words, “What would I do with it? I mean yea, I would love the pictures, but I don’t want that lying around our house even if it is hiden in a drawer in our bedroom. And WHO would be taking the photos?” I told him that I wouldn’t be comfortable with anyone taking those photos of me. Him, yes, I would be okay with that. But, then we have the issue of printing the photos. He and I don’t want those photos to be seen buy anyone but us. maybe we could order them from snapfish or something where I wouldn’t have to look the person who printed them in the eye. Haha. I would really like to do it for him. Maybe one day, I’ll sneak his camera and take some photos for him to find when he uses it next.
