I bought my dress today and I am absolutely in love with it. So, I saw the dress online and decided I needed to try it on. I tried it on and it’s even better than the pictures I looked at! I actually live in Canada and I called all the retailers within a 6 hour radius and only one had a sample to try on (they are 3 1/2 hours away from me). Even the shops on the other side of the country didn’t have this dress in! So, I made an appointment to get into the store that had the sample asap. I had to wait a week and every day I was nervous that they were going to sell the sample (they told me they had a sample sale going on and they say they are the largest bridal store in Canada). Anyway, when I called them to make sure the dress was still in, they told me they just got Maggie Sottero’s discontinued list in and this dress will be discontinued on Oct 10!
Anyway, when I put the dress on it was even better than I thought it would be! It’s light and just gorgeous. I couldn’t pass it up. My wedding is still pretty far away, but I knew I would regret it if I let it pass by. I tried on other dresses and nothing even came close. It’s the one!
It’s the Maggie Sottero “Beth” dress in black and white. We secretly took pics of this dress even though they wouldn’t let us take pics in the store. The dress was a bit too small (size 4), so it’s tight in the hips and near the top. Anyway, here are a couple pics (sorry about the poor quality… they were taken with a camera phone and one of them is really blurry) :
I’m still not sure whether I want to wear my hair up or down or if I want a black birdcage veil or a regular veil with black accents, but I won’t have to worry about that for a while yet.
I’m soooo lucky that someplace still had this dress in stock and that I ordered it literally 2 1/2 weeks before it will be discontinued! 🙂 Just had to share my excitement.

the dress looks great on you! i love how it makes your already tiny waist even more tiny! 🙂
i would wear a regular birdcage with black accent. a black birdcage might blend too much with your hair color.

Great dress – you pull it off beautifully! It looks like it was made for you. And I agree, a white birdcage with a black accent. I’m thinking a lace & feather fascinator?

STUNNING! You rock that dress! I totally agree with the white birdcage with black accents, and feathers and lace was what I was thinking when I saw the dress too.

OOOhhhh I love that dress, the shape of it is so flattering and the lace in the centre makes your waist look tiny!!

Thanks everyone! I just adore it. 🙂 I have a little video of me in it and I can’t stop watching it! My hair looks a little darker in the pic than it actually is. So, no one thinks a blusher or fingertip veil with black accents then? I think I’m leaning toward a birdcage veil myself, but the lady in the bridal shop put a black birdcage veil on and it just looked amazing! Even my grandma loved the dress and the veil, which was surprising because I didn’t think she would like me wearing black at my wedding. 🙂

Ok, so to make a correction, the bridal shop was wrong when they said that this dress would be discontinued. It’s not on the discontinued list. Oh, well. I still had an extremely hard time finding it and I love it soooo much! It’s the first dress I tried on and when I tried on the other dresses all I wanted to do was get back into this one. 🙂
I know I orginally said that I wanted to add a bit of black lace trim to the bottom and top of the dress, but now that I tried it on I can never imagine doing that! The only thing I’m changing about the dress is making the neckline into more of a sweetheart (which the bridal store said they could do). What do you think?
Also, I’m thinking I might get a short veil (shoulder length) that is white with black lace around the edges as well… Or a birdcage veil (probably black). My mom doesn’t want to cover up the wing tattoo I have on my back (and neither do I), so I really want the veil to be short. So many choices though!
As for shoes, I’m going to have some sort of black shoes with a very small heel. I have to be able to walk down a rock pathway, so tripping on my wedding day wouldn’t be very fun. Haha! Plus, I’m fairly tall as is (about 5′ 8″), so I don’t think it will make a difference. And, on the bright side, I’ll be more comfortable on my big day!
