Before I show my dress, I’ll give the background story. My mom and sister flew from out west last weekend and my future mother-in-law flew down from the northeast to dress shop with me. We hit 4 bridal stores in 3 cities in 2 days. I spent the summer pre-shopping on my own, so I thought I had an idea of what I wanted. I even had 3 specific dresses in mind. I said no lace and no pickups. Guess what I ended up with?! It was literally the last dress I tried on at the last store. I didn’t even pick it out–the consultant did. When she brought it in, I almost said no right away because of the beading. After I tried it on, though, and could imagine what it would like without the beading and with a gray sash, I was sold! Here is the sample (keep in mind it’s several sizes too big and I was pinned in with needles not clips)
This next dress was my runner up. I loved how tiny it made my waist, but in the end it was just too plain for me. I wanted something more romantic and whimsical, plus it was $1000 more than the dress I ultimately chose. Hopefully once my dress is ordered in my size and fitted properly my waist will look as tiny as it did in the runner up!
I hope I made the right decision! What do you think?

Definitely the right decision – you’re dress is beautiful! I freaked out when I read your story because I didn’t think I wanted lace or pick-ups either and my dress also has both 🙂

@Earlybride: It definitely will! I didn’t even think I wanted lace but after trying on my dress, I couldn’t imagine walking down the aisle without it 🙂
@MrsAlbright: It’s funny how so many of us end up in dresses with elements we initially said we didn’t want. If someone told me 4 months ago when I first started trying on dresses that I’d end up buying something with pickups, lace, and a dropped waist, I would have told them they were crazy!
Thank you all for your compliments! Finding this dress meant so much to me because I got to do it with my mom and sister present, and I don’t get to see them very often because we live so far apart. I’ll never forget coming out of the dressing room and seeing my mom cry and my sister and FMIL stand up and say “that’s your dress!”
