I went to a new bridal shop on a whim on Friday. I’d been to two other shop previously, a couple visit each, and found some dresses I liked OK but just wasn’t sure about.
Then I tried on this dress and I really liked it right away. I’d been gravitating to some more blinged/fancy dresses, so I was a little surprised to like it so much because it’s much more simple than a lot of them. It’s a Symphony S2912.
I never expected to buy the dress at this visit, but for some reason I really wanted to. So I said yes to the dress!
I do maybe feel some regret. Looking at the photos, it doesn’t feel quite the same to me now as it did, and I see all my body flaws in the pics. I’m wondering if I made a hasty choice.
The dress is a sample, and they aren’t able to reorder it in my size. However, the sample is only a little too small for me, and by putting in a corset back, it should fit. Because it’s a sample they had a deal where I will get free alterations, so that will save me money (changeover to corset back and hemming would be needed for sure at least, and the gal mentioned sewing in some more poof in the skirt as a possibility), although the dress itself was not discounted, so I was kind of bummed about that (paying full price for a sample, but it does look like it hasn’t had much abuse)
Anyway, what do you think, bees? Should I regret?
The official makers photo:
Me in the dress (too small and not clipped well, and maybe needs a little more poof in the skirt):

I think it’s pretty! Do you have a petticoat on under it? Perhaps that would give it the added poof that you are looking for. Do you have pics in any other dresses that you could possibly be comparing it to in your mind?

I really like that dress!! I’m a bit weirded out that it isn’t in the correct size, but if you can have a seamstress fix it, then it’s great. The dress looks really great on you.

I think it’s a gorgrous dress. No need for regret.

@MissLacy: I second the slip underneath!
I think it looks beautiful, and it does look like it’s in good condition from what I can see. A little strange they made you pay full price for it though, but free alterations can almost even that out.

dont regret, I think it looks great… I cant see any flaws! I cant see any at all! We will ALWAYS see flaws on ourselves…
No regrets! (but you have to FEEL great in it)

I think it looks nice even though you said it was poorly clipped. It will fit better once it is altered – and then it may look more “puffed” because it hangs better. I think it’s a lovely dress! And, although you said you were looking at dresses with more bling, once you add your accessories it will be plenty “blingy”

ooo I agree its a really nice TIMELESS gown & if you feel like you want to add some flare, go with some amazing shoes or maybe a colored crinoline!
Its a little disturbing to me that the consultant ecouraged you to get it even though its not your size AND made you pay full price for a sample… it is in great condition but still… EVEN WITH the alterations for free, I think that would have been a red flag for me.
Honestly, its a really pretty little gown that I think looks great on your shape and will even better when it fits properly… Don’t worry, be happy! Get those free alterations and then make your decision about it.

I think it looks like a lovely dress! I was a bit worried seeing that you bought it and it wasn’t your size, but if a corset will fix it, it should be lovely, and corsets will do wonders for your figure! Congrats on finding the dress!
