Hey Bees. So I bought this dress on a whim, and am having major 2nd thoughts. Keep in mind, it needs to be taken in on top, and I will be having it altered into a sweetheart neckline (if I keep it). However, I am not liking the back at all. What do you guys think? What do you think it will look like bustled? Maybe it will look better that way? BTW it’s a Casablanca 1904

What exactly don’t you like about it? Skirt, or bodice, or both? I think it’s fine but then again I don’t know what it is you’d like to be different.

I don’t know if it’s the style or not but it looks uneven to me. It would probably look pretty neat bustled up since they basically gather all the dress under your butt.

@MrsSaltWaterTaffy: oh okay yeah I see that. It looks a little more “picked up” or tucked on the right hand side. But you are right, bustline would probably fix that and minor alterations could too (just adding some pickups?)

I see what you mean abou the uneveness. But I also see the train is not fully pulled out. That may add to the look. I love the dress and I think you look awesome in it.

@edisonsgirl: Thank you! Yes, you are right that it is not pulled out all the way. I am going to put it back on, make sure it’s pulled out all the way, and wear a petticoat underneath, and see what it looks like then.
Thanks ladies for the opinions! I’m glad I’m not the only one who sees this. Do you think I should just take it to a seamstress and see what they can do to help?

I think you could ask the seamstress to work on a bustle in the back, she/he should be able to make something you’ll like. In terms of the front – I love it! I really like the beading and gathering. It is very pretty and flattering. I hope you can work with the seamstress so that you love it!
