OMG - I LOVE that dress!!! It makes me want to get married again just so I could wear it. What designer is that gown?
Anyway, I'm not that good with colors either, but I think that would look really nice with your dress. Maybe the green could just be a bit more subdued. Or maybe have a brown ribbon on the bouquet?
I think that maybe something about the dark colors in the bouquet doesn't jive with the airiness of your dress. Maybe a lighter purple wouldn't feel so heavy-handed.
I love the bouquet and the dress. That is what I wanted for a dress. Light, airy, just sooo pretty.
As for the bouquet, take the pic of that bouquet and a pic of your dress to the florist and say I love this bouquet, and this is my dress. Ask how they would make that bouquet work with your dress.
What are your colors?? Purple?? My advice would be to use a sheer fabric ribbon instead of the green. I think lavender or even a bright/dark purple would work for the hanging ribbon because it is sheer... so even though it was dark, it could work because it would be sheer.
As far as fushia goes- my opinion is dark saturated color is dark saturated color. Dark purple gives the same feel as dark pink- IMO.
And remember one thing- what you like is what you like... go with what you love for your wedding day- no one else's opinion matters. Well. Except your FH.
I LOVE everything.
My suggestion is to use scraps from the hemming of your dress as the ribbon on the bouquet...
Otherwise, IMHO, don't change a thing!
Both your bouquet and your dress rock, but not necessarily together. With such an ethereal, airy dress, such a strong impact bouquet overwhelms it and takes the focus off of it. Your choices should compliment, and not compete. Take a picture of your dress to several florists and get suggestions. What about a white bouquet with a green (non velvet ribbon)? Then your BMs could have brighter colours (assuming they're in purple or chartreuse and not white as well). I agree with the others- BEAUTIFUL choices, but not completely harmonious.
What a beautiful dress! I love the bouquet as well. I think they'd look fine together - if you replace the ribbon with something less bold. What about a smaller, white ribbon to match your dress? And I don't think it's necessary to include fuschia flowers. The flowers are great as is!
Wow, on the dress! As far as the bouquet, maybe the ribbon is too bright?
That dress (and on you I presume) is super gorgeous. How absolutely beautiful!
I would suggest a softer purple (lilac) and as you suggested, non-velvet (thin satin maybe?) ribbon.
Thanks so much for the compliments on the dress guys. There were a couple of people *ahem, my mother* who would have rather seen me in something a little more traditional. Its Matthew Christopher's Josephine by the way and yes, on me :)
Gut intuition told me it would go if I went with that whole "plucked-from-the-garden/grassy" feel I get from the bouquet. My flourist said it would work out just fine but still seem a little hesitant. I think if I don't have as much purple it wouldn't seem as heavy, and as for the fabric, a sheer wrap is a great idea! But you're right, I definitely don't want to compete with the dress which seems to be the problem with getting that dress. :)
Would you consider swapping the green and purple in the bouquet? That green hydrangea (I think) bouquet in your photos looks much less heavy handed. I think I would also try to stay with the light petals - as in thickness - so they are fluttery. Depending on your girls dresses, they could have the purple and green bouquets and you could have green and purple.
I had a hard time thinking of what color flowers to use with my dress too, so I ended up going with very pale pink and green tinted white (paper) roses with a little pale greenery. I stuck a blue butterfly in there for my "something blue" and to tie it in to my blue bridesmaid dresses. Here's a pic:

Here are a few other pictures I collected while I was planning that would all go with a dress like yours. Maybe some of them might help you with some inspiration.

Good luck! Let us all know how it turns out.

Alright, so it seems like I have trouble with every decision needing to be made. This is my dress. This is the bouquet I fell in love with. I'm thinking of using a lighter fabric instead of the velvet bouquet wrap. Our colors are chocolate brown and chartreuse with a purple accent. But so far I've got mixed reviews on the bouquet. Does it go with the dress or not? Someone suggested using fuschia accents instead. What do you guys think?? I have such a hard time with colors!
