Advice needed!! My guy and I are having a SMALL ceremony (either Justice of the Peace or city hall) and next summer having a summer picnic sort of thing for friends to celebrate. I plan on wearing a dress (not a wedding dress, and not white) and having him wear a sort of hawaiin type shirt and khaki shorts…since there’s no ceremony taking place I won’t need a bouquet, but should I have nothing? I’m so confused :-/

What about a beautiful purse to match your dress.

I’ve thought of that, haven’t ruled it out ;0)

In my opinion whether it is a small ceremony, a private court ceremony or a huge ceremony, have what you want and don’t have what you don’t! If you think you want one, get one! If you think you don’t, then don’t. Heck, if you want to carry a teddy bear down the aisle or to the courthouse, do it! There really is no “should”.

@KateRBels:For our legal cermony I still wanted flowers. You can have whatever you want and whatever makes you comfortable. If I didn’t do the flowers I would have gone with nothing.

@Mrs. Mary Jane got married in a courthouse and had just her parents present… she carried a lovely little bouquet: http://www.weddingbee.com/2009/10/26/country-courthouse-coupling-marriage-time/
Do what YOU want, just like Ms. Hedgehog said. You and your SO are dressing up to commemorate one another, so even though tons of guests won’t be present, he will! 🙂

For the courthouse wedding I’d recommend getting a bouquet. I didn’t think of it for mine until I saw another couple with one and then wished I’d had one too! But for the picnic party, do whatever you want! If that means having a bouquet or a wedding cake or whatever, I think you should do it! 🙂
