Boutonnieres should never be worn with military uniforms. One less for you to make or buy.
@AutumnElegance: Yes, that's a big no-no when it comes to military uniforms. He won't need one :)
My FH is getting married in his Firefighter Class A uniform (very militaryesque) ...he won't be wearing a boutonnier...I think it would look odd even if it was allowed...
no boutonnier with the uniforms, it would probably look a little out of place if it was there anyway.
Ok, just thought I should check! Thanks all!
@AutumnElegance: that's a totally legitimate question. Dh wore a police dress uniform and his groomsmen wore tuxes. It just seemed so odd that the groom would then be the one without anything
@SapphireSun: Yeah this is why I was questioning it-- none of his groomsmen are in the military so they'll all be wearing tuxes and boutonnieres... I'm sure it'll look fine though :)
@AutumnElegance: We ended up skipping the boutonieres for the groomsmen and used a coloured pocket square instead.
My FI is ret army vet and will be wearing his uniform for the wedding. He is having 5 groomsmen, 4 who will be in uniform, and 1 (my brother) not in the army, so he will be in a tux or suit, havent figured that out yet. Should my brother have a boutoneirre? Will it look completely off that he is only one in a tux and with a bouttonierre? I the just asked my FI this question tonight! He didn't think it mattered either way! I'm glad I stumbled onto this post :).
I am a certified wedding coordinator and we were always taught in school a bout for a groom in uniform is a no-go!

Brides with military FIs who are wearing their uniform for the wedding: Will he have a boutonniere? Or is that a big no-no because it's not part of the uniform? Does anyone have pictures of a boutonniere on a military uniform? I'm trying to decide what to do about boutonnieres and don't know whether my FI will need one.
