    Hey Bees!

I need help. I have the Watters Harmony dress (but I have changed it from A-line to trumpet). I am not sure how I feel about the bow on the back, and would love some opinions!!

Its an easy fix, it can just be snipped off!

    Thanks!

What does the bow look like?  Generally, I am not a fan of bows in the back because they sometimes look a little childish.

I'd love to see pics. :)  I'm having a bow dilemma on my dress as well (except mine is on the front).

you don't always need to resize if you just click the insert image icon above the post.  it automatically resizes for you most of the time.

ok, now I see what you mean. Still a litle hard to tell, nut the bow might be a bit big for your frame. You have a tiny waist...

I say keep. But I might be biased. I'm converting the tie on my Dora to a bow on the back of my gown. I love bows! I think it looks great on you as-is and that the bow adds interest to the back of the gown, something most ppl will be looking at thru the ceremony!

Definitely NO bow!  It's too big and wide and poofy!  It will look much more elegan plain in the back, or if you had a different type of bow, but this one in particular is not right for the dress IMO.

Normally I like bows, but in your case this bow needs to go. It's so demanding on your slim frame and honestly is what I'd look at first even if I wasn't intentionally setting out to look at the bow.

First of all your dress is gorgeous, but since you've changed the shape of the dress completely, it might look better with out the bow. I mean it looks cute in the front, but in the back it's too long and your can't see the back of the dress because the bow covers it....

I'd get rid of the bow but not rid of all of that fabric - see if you can snip it and then smoothly stitch it down in the back so that it is just a belt rather than a bow, because it is flattering in the front.

I agree to keep it as a belt, but alter the bow in some way.....I voted snip, but I don't mean get rid of it completely. Talk to a seamstress to see what she thinks.

Watters Harmony is my dress. I love it so much so it kind of hurts to hear that you have changed the shape and now want to throw away the "bow"! No hard feelings, I know this is your dress. :) I personally love the "bow" on my dress. I actually don't think it really looks like a bow. I call it my tail and I personally love it!

I would keep the bow until you start doing alterations and then decide.

Also, I am at work so can't see all pics so I am unsure whether there is a pic going with this post. If not, here is the back of the Watters Harmony dress.

I'm kind of indifferent about the bow. I'd rather see it removed and something put back there....a pretty brooch or a fabric flower. Something about THAT bow doesn't do it for me...=\

I think the bow adds visual interest to the dress.  If there is no bow...what would you put back there?  It looks like it would be missing something.

    and an other thing..

the bow doesn't really match in color with the dress... do you see the slight difference?

thefuturemrsgibbs: She had a choice of sash/bow color when she ordered the dress. If color matching is a problem she would have to get rid of the entire sash which goes accross the waistline of the dress. Not sure how a seamstress would get rid of all that!

I also need to stop reading this post. It's making me feel like a sad panda about my dress :(

Hey everyone!! Thanks a lot for all of your opinions!

Jaylii, don't feel sad about your dress. When its in A-line the bow looks really, really good. I dont know if you could see the pics, but I changed mine to a trumped, so I think the bow doesn't really fit the dress as well now. I love the Watters Harmony, but the shape it came in wasn't totally right on my frame. I don't have a big chest, so I needed to make it tighter on my bum so that I would have SOME curve. :)

Also Jaylii-- Is your dress in yet? When you tried it on at the store, did you try a sample that had the scalloping on the neckline and back (as it appears in the pic you posted)? As you can see from my picture, they changed the style of that. Very frustrating. It happened to another bride on weddingbee as well.

    Let me know!

I'm usually a fan of bows and all things girly this but this is a bit lack luster in my opinion.  it just sort of sadly hangs there.  i say ditch it.

Hey jillkodi- I completely understand why you wanted to change the shape of the dress. You gotta rock what ya got! :) I am much more hour glass shaped so the A line works for me well.

I will post some pics on here of when I got to try on my actual dress in November. Please ignore the veil that the bridal salon made me put on and my chest hanging out (that will be fixed with alterations). The scalloping was different on my dress as well. The sample had lovely scalloping and my actual dress did not. It was disappointing, but I never talked to my bridal salon about it because I was worried that it would turn into a giant fiasco. I still love the dress!

Jaylii you look gorgeous in your dress. I love it.

Ya the bow definitely looks better on you than it does on me. I think its meant for an A-line.

this goes to show you that you must try the dress on for yourself! on jayli, i like the bow. on jill, i don't!

jill - my vote is snip the bow, keep the sash. maybe put some cute buttons or something visually interesting in the back where the bow was and where the sash meets in the middle?
