For me, it was photography. Oh we got a great deal but I really wish we had gone with a photographer with more experience.

    How about you?

Great idea. As a bride to be, I'd also love to read about things you splurged on that in the end weren't such a big deal. :) Thanks, bees.

I have to agree...photography! even though we had an amazing photographer to keep within budget she left after our first dance. wish we would have had professional pics of the rest of the reception. it would have been worth it :)

OMG! I WISH WISH WISH I had spent money on a reputable videography company. I got a guy, "Connor Gill" from craigslist and I never got my video and he won't respond to my phone calls or emails. It is so sad not to have those memories. I should have known when he charged half of what everyone else did.

    It's so sad.

I wish we'd spent less on the wedding altogether and more on the honeymoon! While we had a great trip, we really wanted to go to France but it just wasn't in the budget. Now that we own a house and a baby on the way Europe is a 10-year goal.

Not that I can think of. Everything went great. We had a friend video the wedding with our camera. Good enough for me.

I wish we hadn't spent so much on the wedding. It's SO much for one day. But at the same time, it's hard not to spend so much when everything costs a fortune.

I would have loved to go to Mexico and then had a small reception/bbq at home with close friends and family.

I wish we had contracted for our last shuttle bus to leave at 3am instead of 1am. We definitely didn't think people would still be going strong at 1, but they were, and we were!

We splurged majorly on photography after hearing from many people that they regretted not spending more.

I'd also go with photography.  Ours got some pretty good shots, but we went with his least expensive option, and I like the pictures that he's done for other brides so much better than ours.  He would color balance, retouch, etc. - and he didn't do any of that for us.

I wish that we'd sprung for a videographer...a few of our friends said they would videotape the ceremony but no one did, and I really wish we had a record of it. I don't even have any photos of the wedding party processional!

I wish I had spent more money on a more reputable DOC. We hired a woman that was a friend of my aunt's who coordinates as a side job. I had heard nice things about her and she was only going to be there to coordinate and set-up the reception. SHE WAS A NIGHTMARE!

She was rude to ME and my guests and she even made my mom cry. She didn't do HALF of what she said she would do. Her staff members were rude and lazy and her bartenders didn't ID anyone and they served some of my underage cousins alcohol! (My cousin didn't read the menu and he thought our "signature cocktail" was just punch and they served it to him!) I was sooo livid!

On top of that, she was supposed to be cleaned up and out of there by a certain time (which she was WELL aware of) so that I could have my deposit back. My parents had cleaned everything up and they had to wait around for her. The time limit had come and gone and she was still standing around in the kitchen doing God-only-knows-what. Luckily, the staff at our venue had seen what a horror she was and they were kind enough to give me my deposit back in spite of her. I have every intention of writing her a letter, but I haven't gotten over it enough yet. Luckily, my day was beautiful despite her being psycho, but she was the one and ONLY regret I have.

I wish I had spent MORE on the cake and splurged on a day-of wedding coordinator. My reasons are: I had a 2-flavor wedding cake and it was so delicous, people ate 2,3, even 4 slices.....EACH. Thus we ran out of cake. I should have ordered at least 50 or 75 more servings.

I also wish I had hired a day-of-coordinator because so many details at the last minute went wrong, that I really wish I had someone to run around and fix stuff...instead of my mom freaking out every 5 mins.

I wish I had spent LESS on...nothing! Everything I splurged on was totally worth it and I dont regret any of the major expenses.

I would have gone thru with some of the diy things that I scrapped last minute.  I wanted to have tall tree branches with votives hanging from them as you walked in, but couldn't think of a way to make it not look foreign in the space.

But I don't know that I would have wanted to spend more money anywhere.

Flowers....The flowers we had on the pews and for the centerpieces were simple and elegant (hydrangeas with greenery). They were lovely.  The boquets were a bit more interesting with hydrangea, peonies and roses....but I wish we had the budget to have more peonies and/or roses in the centerpieces.  I LOVE FLOWERS!

nona, I too love flowers, and wish I could have had more ornate centerpieces.. but I don't know if I would have spent more money on them... just for that day.. I think I'm okay with mine...

I have been thinking though, I might have upgraded the venue.  Ours was perfectly fine, but I would have loved to have a really beautiful hall.

I wish we had a videographer. I knew I was going to regret this and I do. We did splurge on a photographer and I have amazing pics but in the end what is another $2000?
