I think people are getting more into thinking outside the box for wedding receptions so sometimes older generations aren’t that into it. My philosophy is that as long as the purpose is to have fun and celebrate your nuptials just about anything can be a wedding reception. I think it sounds like a lot of fun, and would have a blast at your bowling reception!

I agree with the pp. Our parents just aren’t used to non-traditional weddings/receptions. If your guests are enjoying themselves, that’s all that counts.

The idea would normally never appeal to me but I went to a bowling rehearsal dinner (pasta bar followed by bowling) and it was a lot of fun. Especially in Vegas, i would expect a non-traditional reception. Go bowling, have fun!

I love the idea.  We are having our rehearsal dinner at a bowling alley.  It is actually where we met so it works for us.  Also thinking about going to get a couple pics taken there with our photographer on our wedding day but not sure yet.  Sounds like you guys are going to have a blast!!!

I think that sounds awesome and I would definitely be up for a bowling reception!! In fact I only live 1.5 hours from Vegas if ya get my drift ๐Ÿ˜‰ lol. Your mom will warm up to the idea and I’m sure even if she doesn’t she will end up having tons of fun just like everyone else. Plus, she’s not helping pay so there goes her say in the matter lol.

We did a bowling welcome party, as there was a private bowling alley on the grounds where we held the wedding. It was a huge hit. We hooked up an iPod and had a bar, and everyone had a great time. People from early 20s to my grandparents all loved it and are still talking about it a few weeks later. I think it would be a great idea!

I woud so go to a bowling party! One of our after-prom nights was a casino night at the bowling alley, with people on the lanes, people at black jack tables, a home-made plinko board (my favorite) and all sorts of other easy to set up mix-and-mingle games. As long as there are a couple other things to do and lights and music and comfy seating for non-bowlers, everyone should find something they can enjoy ๐Ÿ™‚ Have a blast!!

We are having a church wedding, followed by a reception at the church, where we will not be able to serve alcohol. To make up for this, we are having an after party at a bowling alley that has a great bar.It seemed like a win-win idea, that way the non-partiers can go home, and the ones who want to party have a place to go, plus they can all pay their own drink tabs at the bowling alley and we don’t have to feel bad about it.

We had our “reception” (mid-afternoon bowling after brunch wedding) and we had a blast. Our photographer convinced me to stay in my dress to get some cool pics ๐Ÿ™‚ And don’t worry about the shoes, they’re fun! I even had mismatched ones!
