@atreyu547: where are you located in Texas? If you’re in Houston, my hairdresser is phemon, and her prices are pretty darn good.

Well I do  not live in your area so I can not recommend someone for you. But IMO, salons coloring is worth every penny. Do check around and get recommendations. My hairdresser on charges $40 for a color and a cut.

@atreyu547:  ok just sent you a PM. I know she’s going on vacation for a week sometime this month but it may have passed already. Hope you like her!

I like using box hair coloring. My favorite is esalon. They match you up with what you want for your color based off of questions and pictures and send you the color. You can sign up for a one time deal or a subscription. I love it and totally recomend it. The cost is about $25 but you totaly find coupons on line for it.

I have been coloring my hair since I was in middle school so I have some experience in this department. If you are coloring your hair lighter at all ALWAYS go to a salon, there are so many ways to mess up a box die and going lighter will most likely result in an orange tint to your hair. If you are going darker, a box is an option but after a few weeks it will go sort of “muddy” (the best word I can think of) where it turns slightly off and pale. Gene Juarez is all over the country and does a great job (the prices there vary based on how much expereince the stylest has). Good luck!

I try not to use absolutes but I never will dye my hair myself (again–did it once in hs). But, I’m blonde so it’s a bit more tricky.

@BlondeMissMolly:  I thought that, as well. But,  I got sick of paying $100 every six weeks so I tried box color. I figured if it was horrible… I would just suck it up and pay to fix it.

Results…AMAZING! I cannot believe I did salon color for 15 years! It looks so good with high/low lights.

I am a natural dark blonde with some grey hairs and dye it to a very light blonde.

@MrsBonJovi:  you are braver than I! Mostly it damaged the crap out of my hair, and I’ve found a salon organic color line that doesn’t, which is awesome. But hey, if it works for you and saves you money, more power to you! Blonde is tricky, because everybody lifts differently.
