To accompany the similar girl post...

Hubby and I each made lists, combined them, and painstakenly narrowed down for boy names as well.  I'm surprised that we both liked more boy names than girl names--I always thought picking a girl name would be easier.  We don't want to share with friends/family so it's up to you to help me realize if any of them are too weird.  :)  Again, we don't want a super popular or super bizarre name...

The middle name will (hopefully) be Joseph as it is a family name on both sides.  And our last name is a 9-letter, 3-syllable, "Mc" name.

    Thanks, ladies!

I actually love all of them except for West.  My favorite two are Cooper and Miles though with Parker coming in a close third.

Finn for the win! (See, it works well if he plays sports or runs for office!)

Not a big fan of Fletcher (Fletch, ugh) or Cooper. Rhymes with "pooper."

    Personally I love Finnigan Joseph.

Plus it sounds irish and would go great with your last name.

Thanks, ladies!  I agree that "West" is a little weird.  Hubby has a W name and likes other W names.  I got him to take Walker off the list as we live in Texas and I would never be able to think of anything except "Walker, Texas Ranger."  :)

Not to add more choices to the mix (I just love baby names)

but there are a lot of other W boy names out there.

They're all a little too on the "preppy" side for me, but if I had to choose one I'd go for Cooper.  (Admittingly because it reminds me of my favorite soap opera character)

I like Finnegan! And I think it goes well with Joseph Mc---. I know a LOT of Parkers, so that is getting to be a pretty common name. And the same goes for Cooper. I think it's a cute name for a little boy, but I think that name will be harder to grow with, as it isn't as cute for a 12 year old or a 17 year old.

I like West and Parker. Fletcher/Finn aren't really my taste. And the only Miles I've ever known I really disliked.

I knew a guy named Fletcher...we'll just say he's a bad word starting with a "D" and ending in "bag". Kind of ruined it for me ;-). I like Finn and Parker, but now that the male lead on Glee is named Finn, not sure i'd go there. Cooper reminds me of Cooperstown which reminds me of baseball which reminds me of being bored (haha isn't it crazy how we all have name word associations).

I love the flow of Miles Joseph and think Fletcher is super cute too. I like Parker and Cooper but my sister has dogs named both so I can't get past that myself, just makes me think of dogs. =p

i think cooper is a golden retriever name.

also, i know a LOT of young parkers (there are 5 of them in the four-year olds sunday school class i teach).

i like fletcher, but i wouldn't want my son to be called "fletch."

I think Miles, West, and Finn are the best (but Finnegan reminds me of that nursery rhyme about Michael Finnegan who has whiskers on his chinnigan).

I also think Miles works well with Joseph, I have a friend who named her son Cooper and she refers to him as Coopy all the time which is just kind of off for me, so I felt I couldn't vote for that. To throw another W name into the mix, what about Warren? My husband's cousin named their baby boy that and it was surprisingly a great fit.

Im pretending your last name is McFadden because it was the first 3syllable Mc name that came to mind.

The first name that I LOVE is Miles Joseph McFadden - I think the MM has a nice ring to it and that it sounds nice as a full name, just first last and just first and is not common at all! I might be biased becausea my BILs name is Miles and he is awesome!

The second one I like is Parker Joseph McFadden - Parker is a great name and I think it sounds really good with the last name but I think its probably more common nowadays.

Every Miles I know is super cute and awesome, so I love the name. I also like Cooper, but it means barrelmaker, and I don't really like that. Just weird.

I also think of Chinnigans when I think of Finnigan, begin again.

I love Fletcher Joseph since I dont know a single Fletcher.  It sounds like a strong male name with character.  I have always been of the belief that you should have 3 top names but until you lay eyes on your baby you cant be 100 percent.

@ILikePink, oddly enough I picked Cooper in part because it means barrelmaker.  We honeymooned in Ireland and toured several whiskey places.  The act of "coopering" (aka barrel making) was mesmerizing and I thought it was kind of a neat nod to our relationship history.  :)

Y'all are so funny (I'd never heard of chinnigan)!  It's so interesting how everyone has associations with different names.  We've each crossed some off the list just because of that...perfectly good name otherwise.  Thanks for all the input!

I love Miles! As others have said, Parker is becoming pretty popular, and I really don't like Cooper at all because I don't think it's a name that grows well into adulthood.

I voted for Finn, it's a unique name. I've never met a Finn. I have however met many Parkers & Coopers. West is too different for my taste. Miles is cute also. I dislike Fletcher because of a bad experience with one, plus Fletch as a nickname...

My vote is #1 Finn, #2 Miles

Miles is a solid, strong name.  The rest of them (except maybe for Finn) I think are a bit too trendy.  I always try to think how the name will work when the child is an adult and applying to jobs, etc.

ETA: Also for some odd reason, Cooper reminds me of a puppy/dog name, lol... not sure why I have that weird association.

(Please don't take this the wrong way, I'm not comparing your child do a dog) but I've recently been talking with a Rescue Agency about adopting a second dog, and the one I am looking at is named Parker. I LOVE this name, and the first thing I thought of when I saw it was how it was such a cute name for a baby boy.
