We have a possible girl name but we are struggling with boy middle names.
We want to use Daniel as the first name, last name is 1 syllable starting with “W”. Which do you think sounds the best??
Our families are NO help as no one wants to offend and are all like “We will love whatever name you two like best!” I need third (fourth, fith etc) opinions to decide!

If there is an S in your surname then I wouldn’t go for Rhys. Otherwise I am torn between that and Elliot.

hannahshope : My mom has a dog named Elliot and a dog named Rhys, and used to have a cat named Daniel. Sounds like you two have similar taste! 😂
I think Elliot flows better, because of the El in Daniel and Elliot.

Out of those options, I like Daniel Elliot the best, but I would hate DEW as initials.

If your last name is one syllable, I love the flow of Daniel Rhys W__. The one syllable middle name makes it flow really well.

I actually think the opposite of the PP. I do not think Rhys flows well with a one syllable last name (at least not an s-w sound combo) after trying a few common last names that I can come up with. I also think it doesn’t flow if the vowel sound is a long I (like white) in a one syllable last name. Maybe that is just my personal preference though.
I personally think Elliott flows best with a one syllable last name and like the harder t sound leading into the w.

mrsaime : That was my biggest concern! Another one of our names we like is Daniel Elijah, but same thing, it spells DEW! We had that issue with girl names too, our favorite names had initials that were “KAW/KOW”. Decided against that one….

I think they all flow pretty equally well, so I picked Elliot because I love that name. I’m not sure what’s wrong with DEW as initials…? Besides, how often do you have to use all 3 initials anyway?

I don’t think there’s anything wrong with DEW as initials. My initials were JAB and it didn’t really affect me much except being a fun trivia fact with my friends or at parties.
I voted Daniel Rhys because Elliot is so popular these days, especially as a middle name! Rhys is something different, I like it. I also really like Elijah. It probably goes with Daniel a bit better than Rhys.

Yeah, I don’t see the problem with DEW initials. Elliot flows best.

I also agree with not having an issue with the DEW initials. How often do you even use all three initials? For example, at my work, we always initial first and last name.

I voted for Daniel Rhys, it just flows the best for me. Also the initials work better, the other two spell DEW or DJW (which sounds like a famous DJ name!!)

I actually kind of like dew as initials, gives the kid another nickname choice when he gets older.
