My husband and I have been brainstorming for baby names for our baby due in July.  We decided we really like the name Harrison if it's a boy, but then I realized my sister is naming her boy due in February  Hudson.  I started thinking the names might seem too similar esp since they are so close together.  My husband is pretty set on the name though so I wanted to see what all of you think??

If you love the name, don't worry about it. They're sort of similar but they aren't the same. I personally would use the name anyway :)

@amelieisme:  I don't think it's too similar. Maybe if they were siblings it could get confusing (maybe?) but I Think they're quite different!

Both of those names are on our future baby name list!

I don't think they're similar at all, just start with the same letter.

Having two of your own kids with H-son names would be a little much/uncreative, but it's fine for cousins IMO. I actually think it's a little bit cute that their names will be similar. Plus Hudson will be Hud and Harrison would be Harry for nicknames. I say go for it.

I just want to say a couple of things.

    I. I love those names. I especially love Hudson, but Harrison is one of my top names as well.

    2. I think it's fine. (I love the name Scarlett, but my neices name is Charlotte! Those, IMO, are borderline too similar too, lol)

    3. I love the nickname "Harry" for a little boy, but think its not so great for a man.... But, luckily, he can go by the wonderful name of "Harrison".

I think those would be fine.  If they were siblings, it might seem a bit much but for cousins I don't see an issue at all!

I don't think they're too similar.  It'd be like, Tommy and Timmy.  Two completely different names, IMO.

I love them both, I say go for it. I bet they will love having similar names when they get a bit older.

I don't think they're too similar at all. In my fiance's family there is a pair of first cousins both named Robert!

I think someone already said it, but I agree: if they were siblings, maybe I'd rethink it, but if it's a cousin, I say go for it!

Not close at all. Its kind of cute the cousins will have H as the first letter.

I think it would be too similar for siblings, but for cousins? Totally fine. I have a similar name to my cousin and it wasn't confusing, even though we are only six months apart.

I don't think they're too close at all, especially for cousins :) Harrison is actually our pick for a boy! Love the name... Do you think you'll have a nickname for him at all? DH and I have been talking about Harry or Harris lol, it's become quite a debate in our household!
