    My tech said, it’s a boy. Here’s his goods and I can see his umbilical cord so its definitely not the cord in the legs.

    I think you’re going ot have to wait until you hear from the dr I dont think you can guess the gender based on the percent they told you….

    @jules28:  I never understand when they give out a %. It’s just a made up number! My guess is she didn’t see a penis but also didn’t see definitive girl parts. The lack of seeing a penis doesn’t necessarily mean girl. I’m shocked at 20w they couldn’t give you A definitive answer – was baby being uncooperative?

    eTA – gender id is one of the easiest things techs do. I’d be pretty concerned about her competency in taking the other measurements and identifying any anomalys if she can’t even tell you the gender – assuming baby was in a position that would allow you to see.

    I would guess girl since she wasn’t 100% sure. When I had my ultrasound I could tell it was a boy before the tech announced it because it was pretty obvious.

    @jules28:  I don’t think there’s a way to tell based on what the technician said, unfortunately.

    I don’t know! My tech thought it was easier to see “girl parts” (but my baby was kind enough to spread her legs and SIT ON THE U/S WAND. Awesome, baby girl!)

    I would think at 20 weeks it would be pretty clear that there was penis there so maybe I would think she thought it was a girl? What a tease to have to wait for the doctors appointment. I dont get it. 🙁

    @onyx81:  +1

    Our tech told us this, any time they tell you it’s a girl, there is like a 40% chance it could still be a boy, but if they see boy parts…it’s a boy 100% lol

    So I’d say girl, but I agree with @SaraP2012:  why wouldn’t she just tell you I don’t get it either. =/

    80% certain of what exactly? I don’t understand how that indicates wether it’s a boy or girl

    @jules28:  Are you in Canada? I hear they do that there. They dont seem to have a problem telling people what they are having here in the US lol my friend was told I think girl at 12, then boy at 16 then definitely boy at 20 weeks.

    At my 20 week U/S the Dr. said she was 90% sure it was a girl… I’m still skeptical just cause of the way she said it… lol

    Oh wow, our Dr. said the same thing in our ultrasound recently…he was “80% sure” he knew the gender but wasn’t totally sure so wasn’t going to commit!  It was only 16 weeks along though and we’re going in Tuesday for an ultrasound to check my cervix again.–maybe we’ll get a answer then.

    Needless to say, I can’t make a guess but will be following this thread closely myself!
