I wear a 32DD. I always always always wear push up bras. I love the Very Secy by VS bras.
Go to a proper lingerie shop and get fitted. Yes, you may pay more for the bra, but with proper care it will last a long time.
You should give the Chantelle bras a try. They're actually adorable, and work super well. They're also super expensive, but worth it. I totally feel your (literal) pain, I'm a 34G.
There are a lot more DD+ bras available in the UK and a lot of the UK lingerie websites now have distribution bases in the USA. Might be worth looking at Figleaves or Bravissimo (both of whom do HUGE DD+ ranges).
The current estimate is that the average UK woman is now a 34DD/E (I'm a 34F). It might be worth going and getting re-fitted as a PP suggested. If you look saggy in the size that you think you are, you might not actually be that size.
There's a great fitting guide on Bravisssimo: http://www.bravissimo.com/perfectfit/ Well worth a look!
I second the idea about going to a shop to get fitted. And try to avoid Victoria's Secret because they seem to have trouble getting fittings right. I went to a small local shop to get fitted and at VS they told me I was a 36 D but at this other shop I was told I am a more like a 34 H or so. Depending on the brand, I usually find 36 DDDs that fit well.
I also suggest trying to order from herroom.com for bridal lingerie. They have a super good return policy so you can try on hard to find sizes with your dress and find one that works. Good luck!
I have one word for you: Nordstrom. They do the best bra fittings, and they can point you to the ones that will be best for your figure. I personally love Wacoal bras, although they cost an arm and a kidney. They're super comfortable, hold me up, and last a long time (as long as you don't put them in the dryer).
Go to Nordstroms and get a proper fitting. I am a 36F and am much more comfortable (and supported) since I went there and got properly fitted for a bra. When you're well-endowed, it's worth it to make an investment into your bras.
@rachel_leigh: I travelled around the world when I was 17 and did a lot of lingerie shopping and VS were the worst fitters I found anywhere. I was told that I was a 38B even though the back strap was riding up like crazy and the cups were giving me six boobs instead of the two I was born with.
I wear a 40DDD so trust me I feel your pain!
I go to Lane Bryant to get ALL of my bras! They make ones that are convertable so I can criss cross the straps in the back and I have amazing support and really nice perky "girls" without my back killing me!
I don't spend more than $40 on a bra!
@Crisark: Do you know what the smallest band size they carry are? :)
I also want to throw the nordstroms suggestion out there! They have the best fittings! Fredericks of Hollywood does fittings too. I get all of my bras from Lane Bryant or Fredericks. I had myself in the wrong size for the longest time. Now I know and I have cute and sexy bras for my 44DDD girls.
@jo.lee: The smallest band they carry (in store at least) is 38. I am a 36DD, but comfortably wear 38DD at Lane Bryant.
@vmblai1019: Try the body by Victoria Multi Way, I bought it for the wedding and LOVE it, it is seriously the best strapless bra of all time! HOWEVER, I agree with PP, get fitted elsewhere first!
I swear by Lane Bryant bras. I always get them when they have their buy 2 get 2 free sale. I wear a 42 DD/DDD so I feel your pain as well.
Thanks for all the suggestions ladies! I may be going shopping next week! (I've got two bras left in my closet that fit, and they are falling apart!) :)
I am MORE than okay with splurging on a bra if they last for several years.
I would recommend getting sized at a specialty lingerie shop. The sagging tells me that you are probably not wearing the right size. If the bra cups/wire were sitting in between your breasts and the band fits properly there should be no sagging. Its possible as a DD cup that you could actually be a larger cup size -even if you've been measured. The measuring scale for cups over a D doesn't follow the same rules -if it did I would be a 32B, but no I am a 32G. Sure, I can squeeze myself into a DD cup...actually its not even a squeeze...and occasionally, I do if I have bra needs that cannot be met by larger cup sizes (like plunge neckline). But I know these cups don't fit right because the wires do not sit on my breast bone, and they don't go far enough around my armpits. So, I would recommend finding a store that carries ALL sizes of bras upto as large as a K even...they'll know what they are talking about. They can size you properly and hopefully find something that gives you the lift you're looking for.
I'm a big fan of fredericks of hollywood myself. However, for my wedding I intend to get something custom from a small local bra shop for the best support possible.
My sister has a lot of issues finding the right sizing too. She's a tiny girl who is rather endowed. We use http://www.barenecessities.com/ to find her bras. Make sure you get sized/fitted correctly though, it makes all the difference...
Best fitting I ever had was at Intimacy. I'm pretty sure this like is for their GA store http://myintimacy.com/index.php?option=com_jreviews&Itemid=115&url=tag/city/Atlanta/criteria:2/
Good Luck!
I was feeling your exact pain about a month ago.
I take a 42-44G
I thought, no way in HELL am i gonna find something that will fit me. I thought that cause at that time, i thought i took a 46-48 DDD
Boy was i wrong! Go get measured by a professional. Takes 2 minutes. Now, when i shop for bras, even online, it is way easier. I am more confident i will find what i am looking for. I did purchase 2 bustiers and 1 regular lacy bra with matching panties. FUN STUFF! I never would of thought i would find something like that!
I'm a 36D and I really like the multi-way body by victoria secret too... I also like how it comes in a paler "nude" that more matches my skin because im kind of "pasty" white lol but I found it be very supportive and shapes well.. It's also really comfortable, something I haven't found too many other strapless bras to be..
and as far as the sizing, no they're not very accurate, they're normal people working there and I doubt they get too much training for what they do... but be your own "advocate" if you will.. learn to measure yourself! its really easy to do...
heres how:
- Now, if you are one of the "lucky" ones who land between 2 band sizes (odd) I would experiement with which one is most comfortable to you, although most places suggest you go down to the smaller size
I read on several posts about people not knowing what size they wear, so I hope this helps!
@vmblai1019: Go to Intimacy at Phipps Plaza. They are experts in bra fittings. I went there first a few years ago and found out that instead of a 34D I should wear a 32DD which some stores don't even stock. They have a wide range of sizes and will try different brands on you. I won't lie, the bras are expensive, but the lines that they carry are high quality (and are expensive everywhere). Also, be prepared to be topless in front of your fitting expert.
@SpecialSundae: I agree, I don't think that they train their fitters very well. I also have encountered them trying to get me to purchase a different size because they don't have my size in the store. I'm sorry, but you cannot convert sizes like a 34C to a 36B, it doesn't work like that.
@kiparker: I had a DD Multi Way from VS, but it felt more like a B :/
And btw, HOLY CRAP. According to your measurment method, I'm technically a 34G....
Not only have I been wearing the wrong band size (36), but the cup size was waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy off. THanks for the tips though. I'll be going to several stores tomorrow to test this out for myself.
@vmblai1019:If you're looking for regular everyday bras theres a website, the company is called Simply Be and is based out of the UK. I've ordered from there and shipping to the US is actually cheap. Their bras go up to a Q cup. Yup you read that right, Q. I also buy at Lane Bryant during their sales and their bras are great.
I love Wacol for my ginormous boobs. There is a local lingerie shop here that also deals with post-mastectomy patients and I get fitted and purchase bras through them. Well for the $60 each to have great looking boobs!

So, lets face it; I'm well endowed... like EXTREMELY. It's such a bummer trying to find a bra that does what I want it to do at my size. It's nearly impossible for me to find a 34DD that doesn't make me look saggier than I already do. Seriously, all I have to work with are old granny bras. If I have this difficult of a time finding bras for everyday wear, how the heck am I gonna find something that I can wear under my dress!!!!???
Anyone got any ideas?
