Never.  What if he doesn’t stop in time and actually hits you?  Not worth it.

I’ll sometimes gradually slow down and then pointedly do the speed limit (or 10 miles under, depending on where we are/how fast I was going) whilst they’re stuck behind me.

I’ve done it a couple times but never slammed on my breaks just a little warning to back off. I have a little road rage haha

@MrsLongcoatPeacoat:  Haha, absolutely, and it’s so satisfying! They’re driving like a jerk, but I’m not doing anything wrong. It’s marvellous.

If it’s a long windy road I slow down considerably, if they don’t get the memo, I find a safe place to pull over.

If its in the city I will break check them as its usually supposed to be 25mph anyway.

my FI does. it drives me nuts when i’m in the car with him, and he does it. i’m terrified that something will happen. people have a lot of road rage around here.

when i can, i just move over and let them go around me. it’s less of a hassle than worrying about someone freaking out or running into me on purpose.

I only tap on the brakes to signal ‘gtf away’ after a bad or stressful day. Usually I just try and ignore them and let them do as they will. I never slam on the brakes, though.

@sailor:  Then they get the ticket for not paying attention and rear-ending you. At least in Michigan.

I do it if someone is very close to me, but that doesn’t happen often.

@MrsLongcoatPeacoat:  I’ve been rear-ended more times than I really care to count. I HATE going through insurance proceedings so I usually switch lanes or something to let them pass. I usually end up right behind them for the rest of the ride anyway. Sometimes people don’t understand that you can only go as fast as the person in front of you. I find solace in the thought that they will get theirs in the end.

I occasionally tap the brakes if they’re really annoying me. Mostly I’m too afraid they might bump into me, though.

What is it with people tailgating? It’s so rude, dangerous, and unnecessary. I often end up behind people who drive slower than me, but I usually stay at least a couple carlengths bhind them! They still drive me crazy but I’m not going to do something dangerous and be a jerk and cling to the back of their car with my bumper.
