First of all, hello!
Last night my best friend of 15 years, boyfriend for 2 proposed! I was very surprised but excited none the less. I can be a little difficult to surprise so he definitely kept his poker face very well.
When I got home I immediately called my best girlfriend to tell her all about it. However, her reaction wasn’t one I was expecting. She said “Slow your roll, why engaged already?” I had no idea what to say. Why not? Joe and I have always been very close friends and our relationship has been wonderful. We are both at a great point in our careers. I own my own business in graphic design with a studio in town, Joe is an engineer. I tried sending her a picture of the ring and her response was “well I like your nail polish at least”. I just don’t understand, she and Joe have always gotten along. I felt self-conscious even changing my status on facebook after my exchange with her.

Here is the pic I sent to her. I probably wouldn’t have had my nails barbie pink if I’d of had a clue he was going to propose lol.

Welcome! Congratulations on your engagement! Your ring is beautiful. Your friend is jealous. Best wishes to you and your FI!

Don’t worry about your friend. She just was probably in shock and in fear of losing her best friend. She might be a little jealous, its silly but it happens. I hope she snaps out of it and is the true friend you need.
Be happy and celebrate your moment!

Welcome to the Hive! Congratulations girl!
Ugh, your friend sounds rude and self-absorbed. Even if she was jealous (which she clearly is), she should have replied that she was so happy for you and said what a fabulous ring that is. Because that’s what friends do, set aside their jealousy and focus on good things that happen to their friends.
