Anyone know of any online stores that are good for getting bras from, (tried and true companies). I’m looking for a nice suitable comfortable bra, preferably with slight padding, and in white. Being from New Zealand we don’t havea huge selection, so thought you ladies would know for sure of some reputible online stores.

I personally wouldn’t buy a bra for a wedding dress without being fitted for it in person. There’s got to be an independent lingerie store that specializes in such things that your bridal salon or alterations person can suggest. I live in the relative middle of nowhere and had to go 40 minutes away to get to one, but it was worth it, and I only spent about $40 for a wonderful long bra with great support.

I had the hardest time finding a bra to wear under my wedding dress. The dress had enough structure and a lace up back, so in the end I went bra-less.
Some of the places I tried ordering bras through (and ended up returning all of them):
David’s bridal: http://www.davidsbridal.com/Browse_Accessories-Lingerie-Bras
Her room: http://www.herroom.com/
JC penny’s: http://www.jcpenney.com/jcp/XGN.aspx?DeptID=83799&PCatID=83799&CatID=83809&CatTyp=NRC&Dep=Modern+Bride&Pcat=Modern+Bride&Cat=lingerie&cmCatID=70659
I have no idea if they ship to New Zealand.

@mrsSonthebeach: Unfortunately, no bridal salons remotely near. There is a lingerie shop, but I tried her and she doesn’t have plus size items.
Closest bridal store, is literally a 3hr ferry trip away, or a 4hour drive by car and I can’t squeeze time in to go away for a couple of days at the moment. NZ is a shocking place like that, it’s very expensive, and there’s limited selection of everything. Much more of an export country, than a country that supplies its residents first.
And it is seriously cheaper for me to fly to Australia, than to fly to just about every town around the rest of NZ.

I personally love my “goddess” bra. you can check http://www.macys.com or otherwise there was another posting about bra’s on here and someone recommended adding “a corset story” as a friend on facebook and i did. they run specials everyday. i picked up an ivory corset for $25 usd. It’s okay. not bad for the money.

Thanks I’ll check those out 🙂
I’ve found a mail order company in NZ who specialise in plus size clothing, they have a couple of bras too, so I’ll take the risk and try them. I can return them if they aren’t right

Being a 34G, I was dead set on wearing a basque under my dress! When I went to try it on, the woman who worked at the bridal shop asked me why I was wearing a basque, which as a corset? She explained that the dress itself had a corset as well, and I would be double corsetting myself! So I took it off and it felt AMAZING! It looked amazing, held me up, and it didn’t feel like I wasn’t wearing a bra or basque underneath! I didn’t think it would be possible but I’m very happy now!

There is a lovely line of bras out of the UK called ‘Fantasie’. They are horribly expensive here. I bought one at a local shop it was $150. I found the same one online for $40. I now buy them all online. You just need to make sure you know your size. They sell a lovely convertible (strapless) bra that support larger chests. Mine is a 34GG and I’ve never been able to wear a strapless until I met these.
