Yes, I used to get them regularly.  Thinking about starting up again. Its just that first one that bloodly well kills you.  I suggest trimming your hair short first.  The shorter the hair the less painful.  If I did it monthly I was fine, when I left it for 7 or 8 weeks it was painful.  Also popping 3 advil 20 minutes before seems to help.

Oh and its way better than shaving.  I find shaving gets itchy and prickly a day in.  Growing in from a wax, you don’t even notice it.

It really is painful the first time, but yeah, it does grow back just a teeny bit thinner when you get it done often. Hair has to be at least a certain length before you can wax again, though. Either a quarter or a half inch, I think. I love not having bumps and I love that there’s no itch.

I used to get them on a normal basis.. The full brazillian ( all the pubes, no landing strip.. inside.. and the anus).. I loved getting it.. it did hurt a bit.. I started going to the european wax places.. they dont use strips.. just the wax and pull the wax off which hurt so much less to me (but still a lot). Its over quickly, and totally worth it. I agree with PP about the shaving being itchy and the wax not.. shaving itches and then gets sore when you scratch..so one hurts in the beginning and the other hurts in the end lol. I would say if this is your first time…get it like a day or 2 before the wedding. this way if there is any redness there will be time enough for it to go down. But I would also suggest that you get one prior to the wedding just in case you have a reaction or something.. wouldnt want that happening right before the wedding!

Yes, I think it does hurt.  And I stopped doing it because of that!

There’s not really an option for my experience. I actually didn’t think it hurt that bad. I’m not sure what I was expecting, but the waxing wasn’t the painful part. It was fine, and I LOVED being super smooth.

The painful part came three days later when my hoohaa broke out in the worse rash/ingrown hair experience I’ve ever had, ever. It was like pizza crotch for 3 weeks. If you get one, be sure to get it at least (AT LEAST) a month before the wedding to make sure this doesn’t happen to you. Or start far before to get your skin used to it. From what girls have told me, it takes a few sittings for your skin not to break out if that happens to you.

You should also know that you can’t do anything for 24hrs after.  No swimming, no oils, no sweating…if you know what I mean.

I’ve never had one.  I had two friends back in college that used to get them.  One had a similar experience to bellagio… she showed us the rash and it looks very painful.  The other girl used to take prescription painkillers before she went in.  I’m too scared to try it.

@lwilliams107: I did get a couple of ingrowns (way less than shaving) a few days after, but I was rash-free.

Also, a loofah is a good recommend.  When you do shower, just brush the area and it prevents rash/ingrowns.  Maybe sure you go to a reputable place

Find someone who knows what they are doing. I searched “Best Brazillian in Pittsburgh” and came across hundreds of reviews for a person at a Salon in Shadyside. Let me tell you that she is amazing! It didn’t hurt at all my first time. I mean, not like screaming hurt. It hurts because you are getting hair ripped out of your skin, but it was comfortable.

That was 3 years ago and now I only have to go every 8 weeks (since it takes that long for the hair to even grow back) I get a Sphinx done. That’s front and back and feels so much clearner (since we have sex in the front and back) I hate hair anywhere on my body except for my head and eyebrows.

There are always going to be people who don’t have a tolerance to pain and make it seem like it’s the end of the world. Think of it as getting your eyebrows waxed over a larger area.

They are also suppose to give you cooling cream to use after each waxing to prevent rashes. She always dabs some on after the waxing and then I put it on again after I get out of the shower at night. I’ve never had a rash.
