Wow now I'm so curious! How do you get rugburns from stomach computing?
LOL. Um, I guess from resting my elbows on the carpet? And sorta dragging them on the carpet when I stand up? Now you're making me feel like a freak!
That's a pretty good habit to break...I'm going on two years of limited mobility now due to neck and back problems that manifested 3 mos before I defended my PhD. That's what I get for ignoring the ergonomic warnings for 6 years of almost constant computer use. Take care of your body!!
For bad habits, I'm not really actually trying to break any right now...except to relax more :)
I'm a popper. If there's a blemish, I like to pop it... and I'm trying really hard to not touch my face or arms (keratosis pilaris) until after the wedding. I'm doing pretty well with it, with 24 days to go. But who's counting :)
Well, while we're in confession mode, I also have the nasty, embarrassing habit of picking at my fingers -- cuticles mainly, but it ain't attractive -- mainly when I'm stressed. So, I'll definitely need to be on my guard as the wedding approaches so my hands are manicure and ring-photo-shot ready.
I have laptop elbow too! OMG! I thought it was just me....my left elbow gets all flaky and sore...I've been applying lotion and vaseline....lol.
My worst habit is that I'm an obsessive tweezer....not just the brows....everything...oh random black hair on my arm...buh bye....weird blonde hair on my neck...see ya!....I tweeze in the car on the highway....yikes
Bad habits? Don't even get me started...
lap-top burn (it sounds like a serious ailment this way-on my elbows and forearms)
biting my nails (although disgusting i know, it's a habit i've had since i was a kid)
smoking (i only do it on occasion especially when my FH is out of town)
eating-out (i need to lose at least 20# before my wedding [TBA] but need to start now)
injuries (or random scrapes and bruises occuring from work-need to be more careful :-D)
doubting (i KNOW my FH loves me-just nervous that he'll find someone better than me)
How about just laying down a soft blanket or a sheet, so that the carpet doesn't scratch you. Ha, I can see you having a little laptop picnic in the middle of your living room... :)
Oh, biting my nails, for sure. I've been making a real, concentrated effort since January when my best friend asked me to be her bridesmaid (she is always nagging at me not to bite them, and I told her nice nails were part of my wedding gift to her!) and when I knew my own engagement was forthcoming. This is the first time in my life I've really tried to stop. It is sooooooo hard! My nails look nicer than they ever have before in my life, but I still have the urge to bite them every day.
Grr... I have to quit smoking. Not for the wedding per se, but because it's nasty and last I checked it's not so great for your health. Luckily that's about it, I think. Unless once I quit smoking I'll discover that in my anxiety over quitting I failed to notice all of these other, equally debilitating habits of mine.
oh i'm totally with you doctorgirl. there is not a pimple that i can resist popping!
Hehe, I thought I was the only one who loves pimples with an irrational passionate love. :) I definitely pop mine, though I try to be gentle on the ones on my face. My body grows doozies in under-normal-clothing places though, so I don't have to worry about them looking sore or whatever after I pop them.
Any pimple poppers ever grossed out your husband/SO by trying to show him an exceptionally good one? I say it's payback for some of his more dramatic farts.
I should have been a dermatologist! I knew FI was made for me when he gave me full access to his blemishes!
@Miss Bruschetta - I pick at my cuticles/skin around my nails, too when I'm stressed. This is worse than nail biting I think. I've really gotta get that one in check.
Popping pimples.
Smoking...really need to break this. And not just for the wedding.
I have a problem with picking at my cuticles, too. It is horrible, because I do it when I'm nervous and sometimes I will look down during a meeting and realize my finger is basically bleeding. It's bad. And once you are done picking your hands look HORRIBLE.
Biting/picking at my nails/cuticles. Not that it matters too much for my wedding because I don't really care if my hands are perfectly manicured, but it's a bad habit, and it needs to be broken. =D
At one point I had almost stopped, but then my AP exams started coming up, and I started again out of nervousness, and now I pick when nervous and chew because I always have hangnails, etc. that are bugging me.
Lets see. I'm a "pimple popper", like some of you girls have claimed. I pick at my nails, thought I don't bite them no moer (It's been TWO whole years since I've bit my nails! :D )
And a major one. I love, I mean LOVE to eat. I'm a country girl, therefore I love the country food! And I was brought up to "clean my plate", so I eat everything on it. I've gained...13 lbs since last summer. I really need to loose it, but I'm afraid that if I loose it all before October, i won't have enough time to get my dress altered. I would love to be 158lbs again! Before the wedding.
I have to say my bad habit is actually peeling my nail polish ..i just start picking at it , till its all off ..and i only do it when i'm anxious/ nervous ..its that and cracking my knuckles ..thats gonna be a tough one to break , but its either i break it , or have arthritis later on ..
Drinking soda..... it's the worst habit I have! Really hard to break, too. I would go so far as to say I am addicted to it. I don't even like the taste half the time; I just do it because I am compelled. (sigh) I am training myself to like La Croix with just a little juice mixed in as a substitute. It's slow going though!
I pick at the sides of my fingers, it's a nervous habit, so I only do it when I'm on edge. I do it less during winter though, I guess because my hands don't get as dry as they do during summer (for me) and nothing kick-starts the picking. That and I take my contacts out like once a week (in good months) and once a MONTH (in bad months ;D)- they're two week contacts, hah, but *knock on wood* they have never given me trouble or discomfort...famous last words...

Ready for a bizarro Bruschetta confession?
I love doing my blogging and computer stuff on my laptop on my stomach and on the floor. Soooo comfy. But, I've been getting some nasty rugburns from this habit, and as my mother just pointed out today -- because I've got a painful and not so attractive one on my left elbow -- with the wedding fast approaching (about two months now!), I need to start sitting in a chair for my laptop time, so I can keep the rugburns away, since they won't look so hot in pictures. Oops!
Do you have any habits you're trying to break leading up to your wedding?
