I’m watching re-runs of Wife Swap, and this episode features a wife whose husband brings her breakfast in bed once a week. This got me thinking, does your SO bring you breakfast in bed, or vice versa? Do you wish he/she would/do they? Or do you think the whole notion is too over-romanticized in movies and whatnot?
My husband doesn’t bring me breakast in bed, and I’m really not a breakast eater (but I love breakfast foods!), let alone first thing when I wake up. Maybe it’d be nice on our anniversary or on my birthday, but not every Saturday. I’m not too keen on eating in bed either.
What are your thoughts on the matter?

Perhaps when I am really big and pregnant I would be ok being surprised with breakfast in bed, but honestly it isn’t a big deal to me. I am not one to eat in bed anyway because I don’t like laying on crumbs, but I wouldn’t mind a surprise. I just would never ask for it or expect it. Hell, I would just like a nice, big breakfast no matter where it is!

I sometimes bring my FI breakfast in bed. Mainly because he doesn’t like to wake up till he has to go to work. And if I don’t have something for him right away he won’t eat till 4 – 5 pm. Which is when he gets his break. And then we eat dinner around 11 pm.
He doesn’t bring me any, even though he always says he wants to. But I always wake up before him.

When we’re away from home, I will go out and get coffee and breakfast sandwiches and bring them back to the hotel for my husband. I get up MUCH earlier than he does, so it gives me something to do, and he loves it. At home, though…nope. We don’t eat in the bedroom at all.

I would absolutely love breakfast in bed, but given that my FI could burn cornflakes I genuinely don’t see it ever happening 🙁

He’s done it before, but it is definitely not a regular thing. It’s been a long time; I certainly wouldn’t mind him doing it again sometime soon! I have woken him up to breakfast, but I don’t think I’ve ever actually brought it to him while he was in bed.

In the year and a half that FI and I have lived together I’ve eaten in the bedroom once. I was sick and reading in bed when I finally got hungry for the first itme in about a week. I ate a granola bar and went back to sleep. FI and I eat in the office, the dining room, and the living room, but not the bedroom. Sometimes FI will randomly take me out for breakfast on the weekends which we both really enjoy.

DH has never brought me breakfast in bed. I tried to bring him some 2-3 times, but he’s apparently SUPER against eating in bed!
Which is silly to me. What is better than eating cold pizza in bed on a Sunday morning?

@Twyla_Smith: Eating in bed disgusts me. I do however like if DH surprises me by going out to get breakfast for me.

@Twyla_Smith: LOL. He did, once. We were staying at his mom’s house, and she was gone for the day. He had woken up early and was playing video games in the living room. He made breakfast, brought it to me in bed, and then went back in the living room to play video games.
So I barely count that haha. I told him it doesn’t count if he just brings me breakfast in a room where I have no entertainment and then leaves to play video games.

@Twyla_Smith: my FI sometimes brings me breakfast in bed, spontaneously, because he’s awesome like that.
bottom line is he treats me way better than i treat him…i love him.

I’ve never had breakfast in bed, but we often have snacks or even dinner in bed so we can snuggle and watch a movie! It’s always both of us though, not just him preparing something for me. But I wouldn’t be opposed 😉

I think he has had intentions because he has made me breakfast many times, but I never stay in bed long enough to see if he’d bring it to me. I always have to pee when I wake up, so I get up and go to the bathroom. Then I’m up so I don’t want to get back into bed just to eat.
I’d really rather just at the table anyway.

@MrsWBS: I feel the same way… on both counts.

My FI will surprise me with breakfast in bed sometimes, because he’s awesome.. but it’s not a regular thing. He’s a neat freak, and eating in bed is just not something he’s down with. I’ll make him breakfast in bed sometimes, but he’ll leave the bedroom and eat it at the table.. but it is the thought that counts so..
