I was looking forward to it last year, but it just seemed way too fake to get into it.  This year, I don’t pay attention to when the new episodes are on, but I have caught most of them.  They are much better now.  I can pretend to believe it isn’t fake 🙂

You guys do know that that it’s completely fake right, it’s not even a secret that it’s faked. If you still like it thought, who cares!

I remember when it first came on I was really excited. I am from around Lancaster, PA so it was interesting since I live in an area with lots of Amish. I was so sad to find out how fake the show is. It is still fun to watch though :p

@Isabelle663:  I’m from Grove City and have spent a considerable amount of time in good ol’ Lancaster 😉

@OhsoLovely:  I know it’s fake as hell,  but yes, we still watch it 🙂

@wrkbrk:  From the research I’ve done online, it sounds like a bit of both: some were back and forth Amish, or adopted…and I definitely think there’s ALOT of scripting. So many awkward pauses and they almost seem uncomfortable when arguing, like theyre concentrating on not breaking the “4th wall” or something.

@badabing88:  It really is! And yet to some people (FI), “grating” is the word 😉 Different strokes!

Fake as in two of the characters pretend not to know each other but it turns out that they were dating before the show started (I think) and a few have kids and were previously married. The show was marketed as them experiencing life outside the Amish community for the first time, which obviously wasn’t true, none of them had been living as Amish for a while before the show… In the first season the one guy pretends that he is learning to drive by taking driving lessons when he is known to have had cars before the show… They act like they never drank alcohol before when at least one of them had a DUI… This list is endless.

I watched last year/ last season but it started getting really fake. Then all the reports came pit about how fake it was so I don’t want to watch it Anymore. Too bad it wasn’t real. could have been super interesting
