My coworker just had his honeymoon at Sandals in Negril and I have a friend who also went to Breezes in Jamaica too.  From hearing from both, the Sandals was WAAAAY more luxurious and fun and better food than the Breezes.  More upscale rooms too.  The pics I saw of the breezes rooms imho left a bit to be desired.

We went to the Sandals in Antigua and it was wonderful! There is also a casino right next door 🙂

My sis and bil went for their anniversary 2 years ago to the Sandals in Antigua and loved it too.  Got a roundaval?

Definitely go to tripadvisor.com!

My FI spent HOURS on there figuring things out.  Sandals gets LOTS of better reviews than Breezes… and you can consider a less expensive room at Sandals.

A Rondoval – BTW – is pretty pricey. We looked into it… Would’ve LOVED it, but just out of our budget range.

Good luck!

I have been to breezez before in Jamaica and know friends who’ve been to breezes in the Bahamas and both said the same thing about breezes.   Let’s just say we are going to Sandals for our honeymoon!

The first 2 days at Breezez i was miserable. However I finally got over it, remembering I was on vacation and did wind up having a good time.

Breezez is a good hotel for a bunch of friends to go to.  I felt like I was back in college playing beer games.  Not even kidding…that was the scheduled  activity going on by the pool!  They also have Sumo wrestling as an activity, and relay races.

No air-conditioning through out the hotel…Hence the name “breezez” however it was not so breezy!

Not really a relaxing romantic honeymoon… And I didn’t really like the food.

Hope this helps…

If it matters to you, Sandals has a long-standing anti-gay policy which they rescinded a few years back.

You might also check out Secrets if this is the kind of all-inclusive you’re looking for. It’s for adults but doesn’t have a history of discrimination.

Oooo Oooo Pick me! Pick me!

We looked at Breezes and Sandals in the Bahamas and Breezes won out by a long shot. Sandals was almost double the cost and didn’t have much to do off the resort.

That Breezes location has sooo much to do! Sumo wrestling, trapeeze lessons, rock climbing, horseback riding on the beach, duty free shopping, the Atlantis is just a skip away and they have a casino and the waterpark and there are dolphin encounters. They also have a great all inclusive package too. Oh yeah and if you book at the Comfort Suites next to Atlantis they give you a pass for Atlantis for a day they give you a pass which is like $100 some dollars per person.

I have been to Breezes in the Bahamas in 2004. I went for spring break with my then BF and another couple along with 9 of his fraternity brothers. Keeping that in mind, it did not turn into a frat boy trip (luckily). It also gives you an idea of the general clientel at the time (avoid March if you don’t want Spring Breakers) The resort was big enough that we didn’t need to hang out with his friends if we didn’t want to and there were lots of nooks and crannies and hammocks to have some one on one time. We went to the Casino so I know it is nearby but I’m not sure if it was walking distance or if we took a shuttle. There is a really nice piano bar in the hotel, the food was okay but we never ate at the more formal restaurant because we didn’t realize how quickly it filled up so I would recommend make dinner reservations when you arrive. The staff was really friendly and the drinks were amazing, some included ice cream even (I remember a humming bird being a favorite). I didn’t see parasailing being offered but there were several guys on the beach renting out jet skies. We did a snorkling/booze cruise one day which was great, they dump you in the ocean, you see some fish and then get back on the boat for a bit and then they take you to an island for a couple of hours and bring you back to the hotel beach, all along offering rum punch and carribean tunes.

Pros for Breezes, the location is great, the staff are freindly and helpful (did I mention we arrived to aroom upgrade – ocean front), great value for money (we booked through Travelocity). Nice set-up, good cocktails, near to casino

Cons, rooms could use an update (this may have happened in the last 5 years since I was there), food was nothing special, unsure about Parasailing

I have not been to Sandals but just booked a trip for a friend’s wedding in April so I may have more to compare after that. From what she says, you’ll never go anywhere else once you stay at a Sandals but I’m keeping an open mind because Sandals is expensive!

I’ve never been to either but I’m going to the Sandals in Antigua for my honeymoon in December! And we can’t wait (although FI was a little overwhelmed by the cost, it is pricey!) But you only go on your honeymoon once 🙂

Okay, I’m ANOTHER 10.23.10 bride thinking about Sandals – maybe we should have a meetup 😉

Which particular resorts are favorites?
