Hi I am totally new to the whole posting on boards type of deal but I have a question to some of you that might have this happened to them. I put in an order for my dress about 2 months ago- the price on the dress was full since it was in season and all. However during the 2 months I’ve been waiting on the dress to arrive the boutique I bought it from discounted the dress by almost half of the original price I agreed to pay. I aready put down my first payment and the first fitting I. Put down the remaining balanice but I did ask the sales person if they would honor he sale price on the dress they listed on their website- she looked confused because she wasn’t even aware of the drop in price but said she could not honor that because that must have been a mistake from their web designer yaddi yadda. I didn’t make a huge scene but in this situation if this happened to someone what did you do she you learned the dress you bought is now half off and how did you handle the situation? Thanks for the help!

Unfortunately, I doubt any boutique would give you the sale price. You agreed to pay a certain price when you bought the dress, and that’s most likely what they’ll stick to. I can’t think of any other store that would honor a sale price after you bought something full price, so I can’t imagine that this would be any different.
I’m sorry, I know that’s probably not what you want to hear.

The price of any item drops over time. They reduce the price to bring in something new.
Had you not bought it then for that price you would have risked not getting that dress, that it would have been discontinued.
A boutique (especially one that is for a single use outfit, hopefully) is less likely to be willing to do a rebate. The Gap does stuff like that because they want to keep you coming back. Sally’s dress shop knows you will only be coming back if you get a divorce.
Why do you think they should be willing to?

MissKin: I agree with PPs, there is basically no way that they would reduce the price now. Most stores don’t do that.
