If she wants to go just to have the experience or thinks it might be fun, then it might be a good time!
My experience with the one I went to was all local vendors so it wasn't very benficial. But she might get some good ideas while there?
**and I say wasn't very benficial because I am getting married 2 hours from the expo I went to
I just went to one 2 weeks ago and it was insane. I live in Texas, but am getting married in California, so I didn't have a need for any of the vendors here. But the experience was quite something.
I would go... Even if she doesn't need vendors, there's always TONS of booths that are giving away a free trip or a free shopping spree, etc. It's worth it just to go an enter those things. Plus they have fashion shows, a bunch of different wedding ideas, dance lessons, etc. We got a lot of great ideas through the show and even won a few things!
But be prepared for mayhem. There was over 20 aisles of booths and people hammering you for information. It's extremely overwhelming. And wear comfy clothes and good walking shoes!!

I think they're a BLAST, but it definitely wouldn't be productive if she wouldn't be able to use any of the vendors there. However, if you want to just go for some yummy cake and catering samples, then I say go for it!
It might be worth it for idea gathering and cake. But if it's in any way a pain to get to I would say skip it.
You might still find a vendor you like for stationery, etc.
You also might find some inspiration for table decor, color combinations, themes, favors, and other wedding-related items.
I say go for it! You only get to be a bride once, so soak it in all you can. =)
I think you should go..if for nothing more than the experience. They actually can be kind of fun.
Im going Feb 20th they have free tickets and it never hurts to go i usually have fun!
I recently went to the Wedding Expo here in Seattle. This is my suggestion - if you're recently engaged and have not selected your vendors then yes they are very helpful on many levels. If you are recently engaged and have selected all major vendors (venue, caterer, photographer, florist, make up and hair, band, dress...) then you don't really need to bother with the crowd....
I always have fun when I go. Plus - FREE cake! Woot. LOL.
Even if she isn't getting married there, she may be able to find some good ideas at it. I say go.
I went to the one in my area even though I was getting married in a different state. I got a lot of ideas from the freebies the vendors hand out (like wedding video DVDs and photos and stuff). It was pretty helpful for me even though I knew I couldn't use any of the vendors. Plus free cake! And a dress runway show. And one of the vendors actually offered to travel to our wedding because his family lives there and he said he'd pay travel!
Thanks everyone. I'll go if she still wants to. She is at the very beginning of planning, so I think she's still needing a lot of inspiration. And she's more of a hands-on person (where I pretty much did all of my planning online and through e-mail).

There is a bridal expo close to my city this weekend, and my engaged SIL has mentioned going. She is not getting married in this area, though, so I was wondering if it is even worth going. I have never been to one, but I assumed that it is a bunch of local vendors, so there would be no real point in going if she is getting married 3 hours away.
What are your experiences with expos. Are they worth going?
