I'm sorry your dress search hit a bump in the road :( Those are some really pretty dress options! Personally my favorite is #4 , the ballerina-length one with the bolero. I think that dress would fit the fun "wedding in a park" vibe really well!
Although I am not technically plus-sized, I do not photograph well, and that is not just my own opinion but everyone admits it when I demand they tell me the truth! I am really worried about my wedding day pictures... but then I remember that to my FI, I am beautiful, and that is all I really care about. The same goes with you! Your FI would not be with you if he thought you were disgusting or ugly! He thinks you are gorgeous and that's why he wants to spend every single day for the rest of his life waking up next to you :) See yourself through his eyes, you are a stunner!!!
I love #4 too! I had my heart set on a tea length lace dress, but I ended up with something completely different.
Don't worry about the DB $99 sale - they have them like 4 times a year, so I'm sure they'll have one again before you need to order your dress.
Also - check out sites like www.preownedweddingdresses.com! You may be able to find your dress for much cheaper on there!
They're great dresses, and I am sure once they're fitted to your size, you'll be glowing! And just so you know, the consultant there told me that they have it 4 times a year, so you should be able to wait a while. I hope they go on sale for you! And I am glad your mom was able to be there for you.
thank you so much. i really like all of them and i know it's going to be a hard decision. and, photography is a passion of mine that i'm always trying to perfect, if you would like any pointers i would be happy to share to help you get the pictures of your dreams. also, a proffesional photographer will do whatever they can to get the most beautiful you they can. :)
I agree with other peeps, the 4th one is my fave! Please don't feel blue. Even though it feels like your family aren't as excited to plan, they probably just don't get how long it takes to plan a wedding.
Maybe you should start mapping out some of your DIY projects and playing around with ideas. Maybe hold off on going dress shopping for a couple more months. I think soon enough, the closer you get to the weddin, the more excited everyone will be!
They are all beautiful dresses, but I like 4 the best. I think it would fit best with the park setting.
I was my sisters MOH when I was 18, she also got married in Montreal and now that I'm getting married I realize I was a HORRIBLE MOH, I would have even been a crappy BM! I was young and I was nterested but hadn't had much experience with weddings and all. This could be what your taking as your younger sisters non interest. I don't know how old she is. I would talk to her about it and she what she says.
I wish my sister would have said something to me, but I will make a point to mention something at my wedding.
Oh also Mori Lee has beautiful gowns, Julietta collection. I know they are priced well but I don't know if they can compare to David's prices but it's worth a look!
I hope you find something you feel beautiful in =)
Thanks everybody, it really makes me feel better knowing that i'm not alone in this... and i really appreciate all the input on dresses. The more i think about it the more i like #4. I did ask my fiance which he liked better and he likes that one too so i think i know my dress. :) i'm trying to just think of one thing at a time and not get too frusterated. i have lots of time and it's not worth getting all worked up.
Definitely number 4 - that is really classy and bridal. Good pick :-)
Well after lots of choices i finally chose a dress. It was none of the one's i thought it would be, but as soon as i got it in the mail and put it on i knew it was the one for me.

@MysticalPoet: Not sure about Michigan, but here in OK there are TONS of plus-sized David's Bridal gowns on Craigslist. Apparently a goodish number of brides in this area shop Davids, and a decent number of those are plus. In fact, the dress I was looking at before I decided to break the bank and buy my dream dress, I could only ever find on Craigs/Ebay in plus!
Find out what size you wear, and then check out second-hand. As long as you can meet in a neutral location to inspect the dress first, you can probably get a great deal. (or if you buy on Ebay, Paypal offers protection.) Given the number of brides who go the David's route, there's likely to be no shortage for sale in any size.
Also, have you thought about DaVinci(sp?) I have never checked them out but I was reading in my Bridal Bargains book that they are a dress-for-dress copy of David's only cheaper. (which, don't feel bad, David's knocks off other designers...)
@MysticalPoet: Congrats on finding a dress! I tried on one similar at DB and it was luscious on, seems perfect for a park wedding!
Craigslist and ebay are great. Put a search out on ebay with your dress number and each time it is listed it will notify you. If you want to go the craigslist route, try searchtempest.com. it will let you search your local craigslist as well as other ones in a certain mile radius.

Hi everyone, this is my first post... I got engaged in April, here it is the end of June and the only thing i know for sure is where we are having the wedding. I was so excited to start planning and getting all the details in order, at first. For some reason i wanted someone to be happy with me, excited to plan and talk about all the wedding stuff. I talk to my mom about some things i'm thinking about and her response is "oh that's nice". My younger sister changes the subject. My youngest sister is excited but she is never home. i only see her about once a month for about 5 minutes.
My first outing to try on dresses was unexpected. My mom said hey lets meet at David's Bridal and you can try on a few dresses. I hadn't looked around or anything so i had no ideas where to start. Matea (the woman they paired me with) was super sweet, grabbed me tons and tons of dresses. I am a plus size girl (a size 28 for david's bridal) and i didn't realize how hard it was going to be to find 'The Dress'.
About 8 dresses in, Matea brought me a flowey beautiful gown, I instantly loved it. Although it didn't zip or anything i felt pretty in it. My mom took pictures of every dress i tried on, even the horrific ones. When we left the store there were 2 dresses i liked. When i looked at the pictures in my moms camera I almost cried. Not because how beautiful i looked, but because how disgusted i was looking at myself. I had no idea that i could feel so ugly.
My second trip to David's i took my mom and my sister (my MOH) and tried on a few dresses i had seen online. I had a better attitude going in, i felt more prepared this time. My sister sat on the floor texting the whole time, she seemed bored out of her mind the entire time. My mom was a huge help this time. She was zipping and clipping and pulling and really helping me try to see what it would look like if it were actually my size.
I decided i liked 4 dresses. now the problem becomes what can i afford. I'm really hoping that David's has one of their $99 sales before it gets too late. I don't think i can spend $500 or $600 on a dress that i'm only going to wear one day. We are having our wedding and reception at a park, so it's going to be cheep and laid back and fun, so i don't want to spend 1/2 of what all that is going to cost me on a dress.
