Hi all, my wedding date is October 5, 2013 and I started my bridal gown search this past July. I thought I found a designer to work with at a specific bridal gown store, but it fell through due to lack of professionalism and false advertising. I still have yet to find “THE” dress or make a decision on what I’ve found thus far. I’m wondering if my bad experience has hindered my feeling of excitment and caused my indecisiveness. Does anyone have any advice from their own experience? I’ve gone to 7 stores and can never find a complete dress that I love, I find myself saying, “I love the top, but not the bottom” and vice versa. I wanted to order my gown by the end of this October to avoid any mishaps in the ordering process. I’m staring to wonder if I will ever find the perfect dress. I need some tips and or opinions because as much as I want to take a break from the whole search, time is ticking away… Thank you in advance!

I’m not a professional nor do I have a ton of experience with dress shopping apart from going with a friend of mine… but I have seen a lot of Say Yes to the Dress 😉
Usually, from what I’ve seen, women who have a hard time finding a gown typically have issues elsewhere. This bad experience you had with the designer may just be the issue that’s keeping you from ever being happy. Maybe because you had that experience, it soured your view of looking at wedding dresses completely.
Perhaps you need to take a break, quit looking for a while, and relax. Think of it like… being in a candle store or bath and body works, somewhere with a LOT of overwhelming scents. Eventually your nose burns out and you start getting nauseous.
You gotta leave the store and sniff some coffee beans to reorient your sniffer before you feel normal again.
I’m sure that once you relax and work through your awful experience and just… take a step back, look at the bigger picture (you’re getting married! YAY! Who cares what you’re wearing!) you’ll find the perfect dress that makes you say “Ahhh… THAT’S what I was looking for!”
🙂 Good luck!
