Hey StrawberryBaby,
I just hit up bridal row in New West a couple weekends ago - perfect timing.
I made appointments for 3 different places to begin with: Bridal Gallery, Sposa Wedding World, and Lisa's Bridal. I only ended up going to the first two though, as I found the dress of my dreams at Sposa and snapped it up!
Bridal Gallery was ok. The person I had helping me was very friendly, but wasn't all that knowledgable. And by that I mean, she didn't seem to know alot of the bridal gown terms. eg. pick-ups, rusching, modesty panel etc. She also seemed to like alot of the dresses I hated on me (having said that, this was just one sales person, I'm sure there are other more knowledgable people working there)! Alot of their samples were a size 6/8 range (I'm more like a 10/12). Although they did have dresses in a number of different sizes, just not as much selection per sample size. I know they carry Maggie Sottero, San Patrick, Mon Cheri, and I can't remember any other names - sorry! Price wise, they are quite reasonable - I think the woman said they didn't have much over 1500.00? Most that I saw were in the 1100 - 1200 range.
Sposa wedding world was great. The sales lady was very polite, and offered great advice with regards to style and what I would look good on my figure. She was the one who found THE dress, after I'd tried on a few dresses and she got a feel for what I wanted. The price range was a bit higher at sposa, although most still fell within the 1000 - 2000 range. The sample size seemed to fall within the 8-10 size range. I think they list the actual lines they carry on their website - the only one I remember off the top of my head was Pronovias.
Overall I liked the selection and service at Sposa over Bridal Gallery. It's not that I wouldn't recommend trying on gowns at the Bridal Gallery, as the two stores carry different lines, and have somewhat different price ranges, I just preferred my experience at Sposa.
Hope that helps a bit
Ohhh echo! Which dress did you pick? Sposa has such lovely gowns :)
Hi again all,
Just wanted to provide an update on my shopping experiences in New West.
I ended up going to Lisa's, Sposa, and Bridal Gallery.
Sposa was the best. For the selection and price range of what I was looking form.
Lisa's was ok but all the gowns they showed me were taffeta.
Both Lisa's and Bridal Gallery take off the original tags of the gowns so you don't know what you are trying on. When I asked what the gowns were, both salespeople said they "didn't know" hmmm...
Plus, the sales person at Bridal Gallery was really pushy... and told me that I looked good in dresses that I knew didn't work for me which made me feel like they were just after the sale/commission. On the plus side, they had a huge selection.
Hope this help someone! :)
I only went to The Bridal Gallery, although I'll probably end up making an appointment at Sposa this week thanks to the recommendations on here!
As for The Bridal Gallery, I had a great time with my consultant Holly. She was helpful, not too pushy and fairly knowledgable. I brought along two friends and I tried on at least ten dresses before settling on my top three which were all - coincidentially or not - Maggie Sotteros (I say this because they're the exclusive distributors of Maggies in the Lower Mainland as far as I know). The one thing I found annoying was when I was decided ultimately between two dresses, she was trying to get me to buy both of them when I had already told her I have one dress alright from another store that was already going to be my ceremony dress, so I only needed one more for the reception. (Don't ask! LOL).
I've been so crazy busy I haven't been keeping up with the boards so, sorry I'm late to this convo!
StrawberryBaby, congrats on finding your dress!!!
I was JUST writing my recap of Bridal Row last night, should be up soon. It's funny because I said a lot of the same things about those three stores! Good to know there's consistency. :-)
Hi all! Me again! Just wanted to let you guys know that Isabelle's in N Van is having a sale. No GST and free veil.

Hi everyone,
I was just wondering if any of you have visited Bridal Row in New West? If so, which are the stores I should check out? I only have time to go to 2 stores.
Please let me know if there were any stores that stood out for selection and service etc.
Thanks!
