My fiance is planning on having a small bridal party with approximately 4 bridesmaids (including maid of honor). However, I have about 7-8 people I would like to include as groomsmen on my side…Will it be odd that there are almost twice as many people in my bridal party opposed to hers? Or will I need to cut some people to even it out or have her add people?

You could do a few things!
You could have an uneven bridal party or you could make some of your guys ushers so that they still will be included in your day and will still have a job but won’t stand at the alter with you.
But there is no right answer – do what feels right for you and your Fiance.

You could also make sure there is exactly double and have each bridesmaid escorted by two groomsmen – it would still look “even” and you would get to include everyone that you want to, My theory is the more the merrier! If you want them standing up with you, I think they should be. My Fiance has joked about it but I am delighted about all 8 of my bridesmaids and I am so glad that I did not cut the number down!

What exactly is the Usher’s role? Do they wear the same outfits as the groomsmen?

I think it’s fine to have uneven sides, just make sure your Fiance agrees!
Ushers seat people during the ceremony. Many people have groomsmen do this, but some people have seperate ushers perform this task.
