I did a little research and found Curvaceous Couture and it’s about 25 mins away from me in Columbia, MD! They carry dress sample 14 and UP and lines like Pronovias, Enzoani and Blue By Enzoani, Reen Accra and more!! I made an appt and will be trying on dresses there tomorrow. can you tell I’m excited?!?! .
It feels good to know there are salons with GREAT lines who cater to women with lovely and fuller figures…I will definitely let you know about my experience. I can’t wait to try on a dress and not worry about whether they’ll have a sample in my size…btw, I’m a 12/14 on top and 18/20 on bottom!
Here’s their website: http://www.curvaceouscoutureonline.com/

I’ll have to check it out! I ordered my dress from Lefty’s Bridal in District Heights (FABULOUS place) but always love a place that might have other stuff for other occasions!

@Ms MamaBear – I went there yesterday, they are SOOO nice and there was soooo many dresses. I had like 10 in the room I could try on, but number 4 was the one, I didn’t want to try on anymore.
They had mimosa, orange water, and muffins for us, and they had veils, headpieces, belts, jewelry, the whole ten yards. Their sitting area is huge and the place is BEAUTIFUL. Its like walking into dress heaven. My consultant was great and knew exactly what I’d look good in. I was ecstatic in my dress and they are shipping the dress to me so I have no sales tax, and I got 10% off for purchasing during a trunk show, and they also gave me discounted shipping. They also are letting me pay my deposit off over time, and I secured in the 10% off by giving them $15 while I was there. We had to spend like 60 dollars just to get there, between gas and turnpike fees. It was a five hour drive there and back, but it was SOOO worth it. They are actually expanding right now and the back is still under construction and it’s appointment only, because they only have 2 dressing rooms right now, one for brides and one for bridesmaids. the dressing rooms are huge too and they have a sitting area in the dressing room.
I danced in my dress 😀

I have to co-sign…my Curvaceous Couture experience was FANTASTIC!! The fitting fooms were so large, the entire salon is beautiful and they gave me such a memorable experience. I am partial to the Blue by Enzoani line and so glad that I caught the trunk show…I have a few more gown that I want to track down, but the variety of dresses they had to try on was great (and I loved being “clipped in”_
They are a family business and the way that they treated me and my friends and each other made the environment so comfortable. The orange water was amazing, LOL…they even had an impressive colleciton of bridesmaids dresses and I will definitely be going back.
I would recommend going there if you can make it, especially when there is a trunk show!
5 stars and 2 thumbs up!!

I also just heard about a plus-sized bridal salon that will be opening in Fairfax, VA in January 2011 — It’s called CurvyGirls Bridal! They will have sample sizes from 16-32. They haven’t really gotten their webpage going yet, but they do have an informative LinkedIn page here: http://www.linkedin.com/company/curvygirls-bridal-inc.
I am super excited to see what they will be like…I am not engaged yet, but I am anticipating it happening soon, so it’s good to know that there are actually TWO places in the DC Metro area where I could go to try on gowns once I’m at that point! 🙂
