I am not sure what your budget is but the White Dress by the Shore is a great store. http://www.thewhitedressbytheshore.com Good designers, lots of sample sales, and bridesmaid dress wedding gown alternatives.
Hi there!
I have three friends who bought their dresses from The Bridal Suite in Stamford, CT.
I bought my dress at The White Dress by the Shore in Clinton, CT. A great selection, good atmosphere, and the salespeople are very nice and not at all snobby. I also went to The Plumed Serpent in Westport, CT, and while I found their selection to be a little beyond my budget, the customer service was wonderful, and my saleslady let me take my time and let me try on almost every dress they had!
For a lower budget you can try Sukran's Bridal in Westport. The place is totally disorganized and filled with girls getting their prom dresses, but the customer service was good. I didn't like their selection, but the owner is usually willing to go down on the prices so you can get a good deal there.
I'll second Mariella's - they have a huge selection. Make an appointment ahead of time - I called to make one and got put on a waiting list!! They also include alterations, if I remember correctly, with the price of the dress. I tried on a few there but they were just a little out of my price range. I'm not too sure of names, but google shops in Meriden - there are quite a few.
Love Me Two Times in Taftville - They didn't have really anything in size 6 or smaller but they had a ton of great dresses at a discount in other sizes. They get a lot of them from New York and most have never been worn. You don't need an apt. It is a lot of a dress shopping experience but it was nice.
Fairy Tales in Glastonbury - they were great. I called really last minute and they got me right in. They had a good amount to choose from but most were over my tiny budget.
Brides to be in Glastonbury - they were really great! I didn't end up finding what I was looking for but I will definitely go back to see what else they get in. They have everything from affordable to major designer dresses. While I was there I didn’t realize it but they had closed. They never even mentioned it and actually kept trying to find me a dress. They are the sweetest people.
Of Course David’s Bridal in Manchester
Camille Bridal in West Hartford - They had some really nice stuff. I tried on a lot but they didn’t have anything that was really me. Dresses start at $1,500 there. I did feel pressure to buy something and I still get things in the mail asking me to come back. But they were nice and had some great dresses.
Does anyone know anywhere else in CT?
There have been some reviews (including my own!) of CT bridal salons in this thread: http://boards.weddingbee.com/topic/wedding-dress-shopping-recommendations
Julie Allen in Newtown, CT. They have a lot of different designers there! Good luck~!
