Hi chelbear - I am not from the Lansing area, but I will be visiting family over the holidays. I thought it would be nice for some of my out-of-town family members to join me in dress shopping. I found Lett's online, and decided to call to schedule an appointment while I'm in the Lansing area. They said that no appointment was necessary, and that they'd take are of me regardless. Do you recommend against even looking here? They have such a wide selection, it seems. How has the rest of your bridal gown shopping experience been?

Not sure if anyone is checking this anymore, but I did not have a good experience at Lett's. I ordered my dress from the Wedding Bell in Okemos. The owner, Katie, is wonderful! I also tried on dresses at Fantastic Finds and they were also very helpful.
I have been to both and agree that the Wedding Bell was great. As for Lett's... the staff was very nice. I found my dream dress there and came back a month later when I decided to purchase it- and the price had gone up 25%!! I was already at the top of my budget, and when I asked if they could do anything, they offered to give me $100 off a veil, which I didn't plan on getting from them. So, they were just OK. They tried to help me out, but I was so bummed I couldn't afford my dress anymore.
I had a faaaaaaaaaaantastic experience at The Gown Shop in Ann Arbor. It might be a little farther than you want to go (about an hour's drive), but Ann Arbor is a great city, so you could definitely make a day of it. They only book one bride at a time, so they are completely focused on finding you the perfect dress. There were two consultants when I went in, though one was the main one helping me. They definitely listen to hat you want and offer advice/guidance in helping you choose the right dress without being intrusive or pushy. I cannot recommend them enough!

Hey ladies,
I am getting married in Sept of 2009 in Lansing. I am origanlly from TN. Today was the first day I went dress shopping. on the advise of my co-worker my MOH and I went to Lett's. My MOH made the appt for me over two weeks ago. The lady that I worked with left me many many times to tend to "several walk in's". I realize that Sat are busy but I was upset. Down home it's completly different, you pay for your bridal appt and that amount goes toward the purchase of the dress. They expect that you are there to purchase your dream gown and they go above and beyond to make that happen how ever long it takes. I felt really rushed and my lady (when she was paying attention to us) Kept bringing gown after gown that i didn't like. It was like she really wasn't listening to what I wanted. After today, I am so freightened that all the local shops will be like that. While I was there a Bride told me to make an appt for Fantastic Finds but do it during the week. So while we were in Lett's my MOH ade an appt for next Friday after work. My consultants name is Michelle. Have any of you out there had a good experience there or with Michelle....I am really really nervious.
