If it's at all possible, I think you should offer the session whenever the bride wants it (within reason, of course). I know some folks who have done both before and after shoots, and I'm guessing that your clients will have a pretty wide scope of preferences.
I personally don't want to get my hair and make-up done, or put my dress on more than once. And technically it ends up being an added expense for a lot of brides if they have to pay to have the hair and make-up done.
I think it depends a lot on when the wedding is. If our wedding is at 10am, I don't want to try and squeeze MORE into that day! But if we go with a 7pm service, I can see doing bridals in the morning, then wedding party in the afternoon and then go to the service.
Actually, that sounds like a horrible, really long day.
I'd vote for either before or after the big day.

I know alot of people that do theirs a couple of days, or even months (if they're super organized) before! It's fun to see teasers.
We did ours the day after because we had a destination wedding and knew some of our guests were leaving that day so we wanted to spend as much time as possible with them day of. We also gave gifts of family portrait sessions (non wedding related) to our families that were spending the rest of the week with us. We did the family sessions in the am and our bridal session in the afternoon. It worked out great.
99% of our brides do them before. That way they have photographs to display at the wedding/give as gifts. We had one bride with a very open schedule do her bridals on the day of. We have not ever done one after, but we'd like to-less pressure to keep the dress clean!

Hello there..
First off, I am a photographer and I do it for living. I am posting this thread just to survey and get your opinions. I am and will not advertise my service outside the Classified section.
Ok so I am just wondering what you would have preferred or prefer for a bridal session with your photographer? Day of or After? There are pros and cons to each session, but what it is that you would like and why?
