Hi! My fiance proposed with his grandmother’s ring, it has a lot of meaning to him and his family. The stone is beautiful and I love that there is meaning behind it. The band on the ring and the matching band are a different story though. They aren’t my style and are a lot thicker than I’d really like. We decided it’d be best to use the stone from the ring and put it in a new setting. We still get to keep the meaning but it becomes mine too.
I’ve looking for a bridal set mounting (no stones) and am havinga really hard time actually finding mountings without stones. Ideally I’d like something simple and white gold. Anyone have any ideas on where to search? Maybe I’m not using the right phrase in my search? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Google “solitaire semi mount” That should get you some hits. And congratulations!!

@hananah14: I think you can buy mountings from any jeweler. I asked about having my own stone put in a setting, and they said it’s no problem, because the setting and stone are two separate orders.

@Mrs Canuck: +1.
The industry refers to them as semi-mounts, and they actually are plentiful. Most “rings” in the display cases of high-end jewelery retailers do not actually have diamond center stones in them. The settings are “semi-mounts” with simulated stones such as CZs as placeholders so that customers are able to choose their own center stones.

@hananah14: As pp said, you are looking for a semi mount. Also, most jewelers will sell their mountings without a center stone. They want your business any way they can get it! You will find most jewelers very accomodating when it comes down to getting your business.

Thanks everyone for the help. I figured it was something really simple but everything I found showed a stone in it. Makes sense that they would put placeholders instaed of just the setting, looks much better 🙂
